RESPECT, CONNECT, INSPIRE, ACHIEVE

On Friday 14th October, we will be having a whole school values day to launch our new school values. Students will be invited to wear their shirts that they screen printed in Art this term. We will be engaging in activities to help us learn and practice our school values.  Looking forward to a great day!

It's OK not to be OK workshop (year 5/6)

On Monday October 20th our year 5/6 students will be given the opportunity to participate in a workshop to build mental health literacy and build resilience. This program assists students to identify feelings and emotions, identify what impacts our mental health and to build a tool kit to support individual mental health and wellbeing. The program is sponsored by Community Bank Balnarring and District.

More details about this program will be sent out early next term.

Resource Smart Schools/Sustainable Education

Last week, I attended a luncheon with Ms McLaren to learn about sustainability and education. The aim of this event was to see the benefits of teaching sustainability in our school. There is a great deal of support and resources available from the Mornington Peninsula Shire and CERES to enable schools to become Resource Smart Schools.

Our school will be exploring these resources during Term 4 with the aim of upleveling our educational programs and practices in 2026.

With the implementation of our Kitchen Garden and the work that our sustainability warriors in year 4 & 5 are already doing, we have a great start to becoming a Resource Smart school.

We have already have 1 family offer their assistance with composting, so if there are any other families out that can support our sustainability initiative, please let us know.

EveryBODY Education Program (years 5 & 6)

Last week, a Compass Newsfeed was sent out to Year 5/6 families regarding our Relationships and Sexuality Education program. Sexuality and Consent education are part of the Victorian Curriculum and mandated for Government schools in Victoria.

In term 4 our school has employed the services of Sexual Health Victoria to conduct 4 classroom sessions with our Year 5/6 students. There will also be a parent information session. These sessions are scheduled to occur on Monday November 10th, 17th, 24th & December 1st. The parent session is scheduled for November 6th.

It is recommended that all year 5/6 students attend this program. However if you do choose to opt out, please notify the office by Friday October 10th.

Child Safe Standard 9

Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.

Online Safety (eSafety Commissioner)

We can help our children safely navigate the online world by taking some basic steps to reduce the risks.

Our support and guidance can give our children the knowledge to make sound decisions online and the confidence to ask for help when they need it.

There are 3 Key Strategies to promote Online Safety.

  1. Be engaged, open and supportive

Get involved with your child’s online activities as a family and keep communication open.

  2. Set some rules

Set rules for devices and online access, with consequences for breaking them.

  3. Use safety features and settings.

Get to know the devices you and your children use and set them up for privacy and online safety.
