Principal's Column
A message from Mr. Gatt, Miss. Slaymaker & Mrs. Dixon
As always it has been another busy fortnight at Westgrove (especially being the final one for the term), with lots to celebrate! An example of this is today we welcomed our Year 2 and Year 6 families in for the students to showcase their learning and projects that they have been working on this term.
Dates for your calendars:
30th Birthday Celebration!
This year Westgrove has turned 30! We will be acknowledging this milestone on Friday 7th November alongside our Colour Run. In addition, we will be having a whole school photo to add to the collection that was in our foyer. More information will be sent out next term.
Staffing News
This Friday we will be farewelling two of our staff, Mrs. Candice Morgan (PE) and Miss. Emma Acciarito (Year 2). We would like to thank both Candy and Emma for the contributions they have made to our school and community this year and wish them well on their next adventure.
At this stage, we are in the process of recruiting a PE teacher to replace Mrs. Morgan. Until this is finalised the PE program will not run.
Student Attendance
This week we celebrated our students with 90%+ attendance this term with our termly Principal's Lunch. It was brilliant to see over 350 of our students in attendance! In addition, attendance updates were sent out to all families regarding their child/ren's attendance for the second half of the term. It was extremely pleasing to send out many improvement or positive attendance emails to our families! Thank you to our families for your ongoing support and commitment.
Currently our whole school attendance rate is 88.9% for the year.
Building and Playground Works Update
This term our Administration and roof works have been progressing and will continue into next term. Excitingly our new Prep - 2 Playground is going to be installed during the upcoming break, which means students will playing on it by the end of our first week of next term! Once this playground is opened, the current 2-3 playground will be closed off to students.
2026 Prep Transition
Next term we will commence our Prep Transition sessions for 2026. They will be running between 9.30am - 10.30am on:
During these times children we visit one of our Prep classrooms and engage in a range of activities so that they can begin familiarising themselves with our school. Families will then have an opportunity to engage in information sessions around a variety of topics. Further information will be posted on Compass.
Canteen Helpers Wanted!
Can you spare some time on a Friday morning to prepare lunch orders in the canteen? We desperately need some help between 9-11am on a Friday. You do not have to commit to supporting us weekly, all help is greatly appreciated! If you can help, please contact the office and let us know.
We hope that you enjoy the upcoming break with some rest and some down time. We look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 6th October!
