Faith and Mission

As November begins, the Catholic Church marks two important days of remembrance and hope: All Saints’ Day on 1 November and All Souls’ Day on 2 November.
All Saints’ Day celebrates all those who are with God, both the recognised saints of the Church and the countless holy people whose lives have reflected God’s love. The feast reminds us that we too are called to holiness, lived through everyday acts of faith, compassion, courage and service.
All Souls’ Day is a day of prayer for those who have died. We remember family members, friends and loved ones, entrusting them to God’s mercy and giving thanks for the ways their lives have touched ours. This tradition expresses our Christian hope that death is not the end and that we remain united in Christ.
For our John XXIII College community, these days invite us to pause and consider those who have inspired us, shaped us and shown us something of Christ through their lives. They also remind us that we are called to do the same for others.

Good News for the Feast of All Saints
This Sunday, 1 November, our Church celebrates the feast of All Saints. At this morning’s community Mass we sang the hymn below, invoking the intercession of holy women and men who have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith. Thank you to the Chapel Choir and Music Department for their music ministry.
In his homily, Fr Huy proposed a ‘Saint You’ – referring to each one of us, and our own unique call to reflect God’s glory and goodness in our life.
Saints of God, we stand before you.
This we ask you: pray for us.
Holy men and holy women,
in your goodness,
Pray for us.
