Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
This will be my final newsletter as my last day at St Philomena’s will be next Friday 13th December. I would like to take the opportunity to express my thanks to the community for the support you have provided throughout the year. There were quite a few challenges that presented when I arrived but I believe we have worked hard to overcome them.
I would like to thank Jodie Litchfield and the School Advisory Council for their ongoing commitment to a vision which seeks to develop St Philomena’s as a school of choice within Moree and surrounds. Also to Mr Scott Antees and Chris Hartin as leaders of the P&F Committee who also work hard to ensure a community focus on supporting the school, particularly ensuring every child has the opportunity to attend major excursions. The P&F contributes significantly to the costs of excursions and for this, all families are grateful.
I would also like to commend the staff and leadership team for their efforts throughout the year. This is a team that desires the best outcomes for all students and is continually looking at school performance and best practice to ensure that students are cared for and focussed on learning outcomes. I need to also thank the hard working office staff who have kept me in check throughout the year and who also contribute significantly to the outward perception of the school.
I leave feeling excited for the school. I believe that we are set for a bright future full of possibilities. We have plans in place that will lead to better connections to school through student leadership, agency and voice. We will begin 2025 well staffed and committed to implementing an improvement agenda that will see benefits to all our students.
Finally I would like to thank the students. I have enjoyed watching their development and growth over the year. I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to be at St Philomena’s and as my last school it will always hold a special place with me.
All the best for the future,
Simon Fleming
