VCE FOOD STUDIES @ McK SEMESTER 2

In the last few weeks of term 3, this semester Year 12 students sat through their final formal lessons. Year 12 Food Studies students completed their final SAC for Unit 4 and their final cooking lesson. The students worked in small groups to produce a few dishes of their choice. They then enjoyed an afternoon tea all together with their Food Studies teacher.

Please enjoy some photos from 12Food 01 class’s last cooking lesson.

Please see what a few students from 11 Food02 had to say.

I got to experience a luxurious afternoon at the Langham Hotel Melbourne. Before dining at the Melba Restaurant, we enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the hotel’s back rooms, which offered us a unique glimpse of how one of Melbourne’s most iconic hotels is run. At the Melba Restaurant we enjoyed their renowned lunch buffet, which featured a decadent spread of international cuisine, fresh seafood, and exquisite desserts.

We were greeted by Langham Staff, and guided around the hotel, taking us through the process of running the system. Rooms seen included the chef’s kitchen, the cleaning department and the loading bay where all the offices were located. After the tour we enjoyed the buffet that included a wide array of cuisines, ranging from Indian, to Japanese. The experience offered a magnificent chocolate fountain paired with a decorative display of desserts; and a seafood bar which provided the opportunity to have a chef curate a platter of sushi or simply cut up fresh seafood.
