Mentor Texts 3- 6

At Westbreen Primary School, we use high-quality mentor texts to support students’ reading and understanding in a meaningful and engaging way. These texts help us explicitly teach important literacy skills.

Through mentor texts, students:

• Explore and understand interesting vocaulary.
• Learn grammar in context, seeing how it works in real examples.
• Identify and understand figurative language, such as similes and metaphors.
• Strengthening their comprehension skills.
• Build a deeper understanding of how language works.
