A Community to Be Proud Of

Over the past few weeks, I have found myself reflecting on just how proud I am to be part of our College community.

Our recent Feast and Celebration Day was a wonderful example of this. The behaviour of our students throughout the Mass and assembly was outstanding, and the way students and staff then worked together throughout the remainder of the day created a fantastic atmosphere across the College. The generosity of our families and their contributions to the charities supported on the day was another wonderful reflection of our community.

That sense of pride has continued across so many areas of College life.

Students have represented the College at the Yarram Eisteddfod. Students have also competed in the Australian Mathematics Competition, while our Year 7 Girls and Senior Girls Netball teams both finished runners-up at the SSV Regional competition.

Our Year 10 students have continued their involvement in the Live4Life mental health program, while senior Youth Ministry students have had the opportunity to connect with members of our local community through visits to Woorayl Lodge Residential Aged Care.

Alongside these opportunities, there continues to be an enormous amount of quality learning and teaching taking place in our classrooms each day. It is easy to focus on the big events and achievements, but we should be equally proud of the everyday effort, growth and commitment of our students and staff.

What has stood out to me is the many different ways our students contribute to our College. Whether through their learning, sport, performing arts, service, wellbeing programs or simply the way they conduct themselves, there is a great deal for us to celebrate.

Pride in our College is about more than results or achievements. It is about how we represent ourselves, how we treat others, how we contribute and the community we create together.

There is certainly plenty to be proud of at Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College.
