Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the halfway mark of the term. Where has the year gone? It is certainly moving very quickly. The students have been busy in the classroom, learning new concepts, consolidating past concepts and showing a true enthusiasm and love for learning. It gives us great pleasure to visit the learning spaces and see students happy, smiling and engaged in their learning. We thoroughly enjoy asking students about their learning and hearing their responses.
We are also pleased to welcome Mrs Rachel Ferris to our school community. Mrs Ferris will be completing a four week teaching practicum in Stage 1 under the guidance of Miss Buckland. We look forward to supporting her throughout this placement.
School Perfomance Leader Visit
We were delighted to host John O’Connor, School Performance Leader from Armidale Catholic Schools last week for a school visit. Following his learning walk, John described St Joseph’s as calm, purposeful and consistent. He highlighted the active engagement of our students, who demonstrated a fantastic ability to talk about their learning, use classroom supports and tackle new challenges with confidence.
Furthermore, John commended our teaching staff for their consistent routines and the clear execution of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria. He praised the school for successfully embedding high-impact practices into daily classroom life. This glowing feedback is a testament to the hard work, passion and commitment of our teachers and students. We remain dedicated to ensuring St Joseph’s continues to deliver a safe, supportive and exceptional learning environment for every child.
Annual School Survey
An annual satisfaction survey of parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. The surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students about our school and will be used to affirm practices and inform school improvement. The surveys will be launched via email today, Monday 24 August 2026 using the email addresses supplied to the school. The survey will close on Wednesday 2 September 2026.
Book Week Parade & Book Fair
Get ready for one of the most vibrant weeks on our school calendar! This week, we kick off our annual Book Week celebrations, featuring our fantastic Book Fair, the school disco and our beloved costume parade.
Inspired by this year's theme, "Symphony of Stories," we can't wait to see our students bring their favourite literary characters to life. Adding to the magic, we are thrilled to host Grandparents Day alongside our parade. It is a wonderful opportunity for our entire school community to gather, honour these cherished family members and create lasting memories for our students.

Happy Father's Day
Wow! It is that time of the year when we say a massive thank you to all of our amazing fathers. Father's Day is a celebration of fatherhood; a time for us to honour, celebrate and to be thankful for all of the men, father figures and male role models in our lives. We recognise the very important role you play in the lives of children, so thank you to all of the dads and father figures in our school community. We are looking forward to our Father's Day BBQ aka 'Blokes Brekky' next Friday. We always have a great morning and we hope all the special father figures in our life can come along and join us for a tasty bacon and egg roll.
