Bus changes in the North and North West of Sydney

In August, TransportNSW is making changes to some bus services to support the launch of Sydney Metro, Chatswood to Sydenham.

The bus changes aim to improve connectivity to Sydney Metro services and support integration into the broader public transport network, primarily in Sydney’s North West and North Shore.

The changes will enhance the network, support residential growth, reduce duplication of public transport services and include:.

  • Increasing service frequency and operating hours of some bus routes to offer improved connections to Sydney Metro.
  • Adjusting existing timetables for other bus routes to better reflect demand and improve service performance.
  • Adjusting some bus routes to terminate in different locations, to reduce duplication of public transport services.
  • Delivering the NSW Government Election Commitment to connect Top Ryde and East Ryde with Metro services at North Ryde Station.
  • Withdrawing a small number of routes where there is duplication with new Sydney Metro services and availability of alternative bus or train services.

Languages

Bienvenue à l'école. Welcome back to school!

Do you recognise the following motto?

“Plus vite, Plus haut, Plus fort – Ensemble” (French)

“Citius, Altius, Fortius – Communiter” (Latin)

If your response was “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together”, then you are ready for the commencement of this Wednesday’s 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games!

In Languages, we will be encouraging students to observe the Games coverage and take this opportunity to reflect on the values of the games, Excellence, Respect, and Friendship encapsulated by the Olympic Charter, to “encourage effort”, “preserve human dignity” and “develop harmony”. The games are a timely reminder of how we can all contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play, values aligned with our own EREA touchstones, Justice and Solidarity, Inclusive Community, Liberating Education and Gospel Spirituality

In the lead up to the games, Language students have completed a range of Olympic related activities in class, learning about national flags and their colours, discussing sports, hobbies and interest, or in the case of senior language, more complex issues including the environmental, economic and political issues.

The Language Department have also distributed jars of delicious Bonne Maman Hazelnut and Chocolate Spread to students during language classes to promote the games and the significant role that languages and culture play in this global event. This promotion of the games was a generous gift to our students from the France at Home Online Supermarket. Students were also given a magnet containing the store details should you be interested in jumping online to see what the online store has to offer. What could be better than hosting a French themed party at home or French family breakfast, with all your favourite French produce, whilst watching games? France At Home Online Supermarket certainly have a wide range of products to select, ranging from apparel, favourite food items and even online French TV subscriptions with Canal +. It certainly is worth a look!

On behalf of SPX College, we send a message of appreciation and thanks to the France at Home Online Supermarket Company Director, Robert, for including our school community in the celebrations. Details for the France at Home Online Supermarket are included below.
