Mr Hyatt

Happy Holidays!

As we wrap up Term 2, I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed to making this term truly great. Whether you are a student, teacher, staff member, or parent, your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the students. Your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm have truly made this term a success. Your thirst for knowledge and willingness to engage in the learning process is what motivates us as educators. Thank you for your commitment to excellence and for making our jobs so rewarding.

Next, I would like to express my gratitude to the teachers and staff members who have worked tirelessly to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment. Your passion for education, creativity in the classroom, and willingness to go above and beyond for your students is truly commendable. Your efforts have not only helped students succeed academically but have also contributed to their personal growth and development. Thank you for your unwavering dedication.

Additionally, I would like to recognise all of our parents, grandparents and guardians who have been supportive partners in the education of their children. Your involvement, encouragement, and cooperation have played a vital role in creating a collaborative and nurturing community. Your commitment to your children's education is invaluable, and we are grateful for your ongoing support.

At the time of this newsletter's release, I will be aboard a plane en route to Singapore. I have a series of long days ahead of me as I travel to Portugal to participate in a pilgrimage along various El Camino routes in Spain and France before continuing to Rome. I will be back at school on Thursday, 1st August, and during my absence, Mrs. Makeham will be the acting principal.

No matter what your plans are over the next fortnight, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday, and no doubt I will catch up with all of you very shortly.

Renovation Works Update

The building contractors have notified me that if we do not experience a significant amount of rainfall over the school holidays, the project works, which have been ongoing since February, are expected to be finished before the students return for Term 3 on the 23rd of July.

Numerous project activities included the establishment of fresh drainage systems near the upper playground, church, and primary classrooms. Furthermore, the resolution of guttering problems at the COLA area of the library, the creation of gardens and paths, seating areas, and the installation of different playground apparatus like a large sandpit, rock climbing wall, climbing nets, ninja course, and more. Before the departure of the construction workers for their new school projects they are also going to install a chicken coop!

I am aware that both the students and the staff are filled with anticipation. It is understandable, considering the shrinking playing space over the past five months. This has affected the games played during recess and lunch breaks, as well as hindered our physical education classes and preparations for the athletics carnival. The limited use of the area under the COLA by all classes has been a challenge. Let alone putting up with the noise during this time. The students have not complained even once, which is truly commendable considering the challenging situations they have faced.

At the moment I am planning to have the official opening on Friday 30th August as part of our Father's Day Breakfast, Grandparents Day, and Book Week Fashion Parade. This event aims to formally recognise the contributions of our current and past P and F members, Walcha community members, our former principal, Mrs. Burton, and others who have played a role in making this project a reality. Additionally, the director of Armidale Catholic Schools, Regina Menz, will be in attendance to showcase her ninja skills.

I am certain that our new playground will be envied by other schools throughout the region!
