Winter sports day versus Birchip P-12 School

Our school competed against Birchip P-12 School in Year 7 & 8 Netball, Year 9 – 11 Netball, Year 7 & 8 Boys Soccer and Years 9 – 11 Mixed Soccer on Tuesday 27th August at Birchip. Approximately 60 students and 7 or 8 staff were involved on the day in these competitions. A free BBQ was held for all of the students and staff involved in the day. The results on the day included:

• Year 7 & 8 Netball – Donald HS 31 def. Birchip P-12 School 21

Prominent players were Milla Adams, Maya Funcke and Halle Rice.

• Year 9 – 11 Netball – Donald HS 22 lost to Birchip P-12 School 26.

Prominent players were Abby Griffiths, Asha Pearse and Eliza Rotherham

• Year 7 & 8 Soccer – Donald HS 1 drew with Birchip P-12 School 1 

Our goal was kicked by Jack Reilly with prominent players being Oakley Brennan, Jack Reilly and Elijah Mansibang.

• Year 9 – 11 Soccer – Donald HS 2 def. Birchip P-12 School 1 

Both goals were kicked by Glenn Pearse with prominent players being Luca Rice, Glenn Pearse, Geordie Smith and Baxter Donnellon.

So overall, Donald HS came away with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss for the day.

A big thank you to all of our Donald HS students who got involved in this event and to all of the staff that attended on the day to coach, umpire, organise and assist in supervising our students. I believe it was a great day for everyone to be involved in.

Thank you also to Andrew Sayle (Principal of Birchip P-12 School) and the student leaders at their school for organising and hosting this day. Our school students and staff really enjoyed the day and we look forward to hosting Birchip P-12 School for some similar events next year, which may include Girls Football.
