Ms Brea Terris

Dear Families,

Welcome back to the 2026 school year. It has been a wonderful start, and students have settled beautifully into their classrooms and routines.

Our new Prep students have done an outstanding job transitioning to school life. Starting school is such an important milestone, and we are very proud of how confidently they have embraced this new chapter. We are also delighted to welcome many new families to our school community. Welcome to SHNPS — we look forward to sharing this exciting journey with you.

This promises to be a particularly exciting year for our school, with our building project anticipated to be completed midway through the year. I was fortunate to participate in a walkthrough last week, and it was incredibly exciting to see the progress being made. The new facilities will provide amazing opportunities for our students and staff.

Congratulations to our Prep students who attended their first assembly, and well done to our student leaders for confidently leading the assembly. You did a fantastic job and represented our school with pride.

I am really excited about the year ahead!

School Council

If you are interested in joining our School Council, I encourage you to contact me or Tim Dunstan for a conversation about what the role involves. Nominations for School Council will be released shortly, and we warmly welcome expressions of interest from members of our school community.

Can you sew?

We are looking for someone with sewing skills who may be able to assist us in creating covers for one of our cupboards. If you are able to help, please see Belinda in the office. We would greatly appreciate your support.

Hats

You may notice that our 2026 Prep students are wearing black hats. This decision was endorsed by School Council at the end of the 2025 school year.

The introduction of the black hats is part of a broader review of our uniform policy and the availability of green hats, which School Council will be undertaking this year. As part of this process, we may consider making some updates to elements of our school uniform.

Please be assured that there is no rush for any changes. Should adjustments to the uniform be made, they will be implemented gradually and with plenty of notice to families.

2026 Enrolments

If you know of any families who would like a tour of the school, please encourage them to contact the office.

Look out for our 2027 enrolment information coming out soon.

Thank you to our families who are getting the good word out in the community about our school. 'Word of mouth' is the most powerful form of advertising and consequently, we are fielding many enquiries about our school.

Duty of Care

Families are reminded that teachers are on duty before school from 8.30am-8.50am and after school from 3.20pm until 3.30pm. Children should not be unattended in the school grounds before or after these times. Thank you for your support and co-operation with this.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind Regards

Brea
