Grandparent/Special Person Day
This Friday we will celebrate Grandparents and Special Friends Day, a very special occasion in our school calendar. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to honour the love, wisdom, and faith that grandparents and special people bring into our lives.
Pope Francis reminds us just how important grandparents are in shaping our families and our future:
“How important grandparents are for family life, for passing on the human and religious heritage which is so essential for each and every society! How important it is to have intergenerational exchanges and dialogue, especially within the context of the family. Children and the elderly build the future of people: children because they lead history forward, the elderly because they transmit the experience and wisdom of their lives.”
He also reminds us that:
“A people that does not care for its grandparents, a people that does not respect their grandparents, does not have a future, because they do not have a memory… Grandparents are a treasure.”
We give thanks for the gift of grandparents and all special people who nurture, guide, and support our students with love and faith.
