Principal's Report

Who can believe we are already 2 weeks into our final Term of the year.
After taking Term 3 off, I have returned to school eager to see everyone and get stuck into one of my favourite terms of the school year. I wish to thank Ms Atkinson and Mrs Couacaud for stepping into principal role while I was away.
I was lucky enough to take some long service leave and take a family road trip up the east coast of Australia, to Cairns, across to Darwin and down through the centre of Australia.
We had a wonderful adventure and created some beautiful family memories.
Term 4 is always busy, as we have a number of events and programs running. Term 4 can be a special way to celebrate the 2026 year, but also look ahead to the next school year, as later in the term we begin our transition programs.
Foundation Swimming
This week, our Foundation students took part in swimming lessons each day at Kingswim in Clyde North. They learnt about how to be safe in the water, they practised some strokes, and swimming technique, kicking, putting their head under water, blowing bubbles and much more. The program catered for the different swimming abilities and it was wonderful to watch our students developing their skills in the water.
All of the students really enjoyed the lessons, and also the bus ride to the pool and back to school!
Year 3/4 Camp
The sun was out last week for our Year 3 and 4 students who attended the Waratah Bay Beach camp. It can be a difficult time for many of our Year 3 students being away from home for their first camp, so it was lovely to hear them demonstrating our school value of Resilience. Well done Year 3 and 4 campers! A big thank you also to our staff and parents who attended the camp and made it so successful.
Whole School Assembly
Please note a change of days to our usual assembly program. Our next whole school assembly is on Friday next week, starting at 9:10am in the gym. This change is to accommodate some school events happening on the Monday.
Fundraising
From Monday we will be selling Clyde Primary School wristbands, as shown in the pictures of our Sports Leaders above. These will be sold before and after school by our Year 6 students, as the money raised will go towards their Big Day Out. Wristbands will be $3 each or buy 2 for $5.00.
Christmas Raffle
Our Christmas Concert is fast approaching, and we are starting to seek donations to help create our Christmas raffle hampers.
We are looking for donations of:
- Christmas books
- Toys and games
- Non-perishable foods (no alcohol, please)
- Hand soaps and candles
- Christmas craft activities
- Stationery
If you are able to donate items, please bring them into the school office over the next few weeks.
Marrung Mob Kids Celebration Day
On Friday 9 October, Clyde Primary School’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students attended the Casey Network Marrung Mob Children's Celebration Day at Cranbourne Secondary College, accompanied by Mr Welsh and Miss Leanne.
The students enjoyed an exciting scavenger hunt filled with fun, hands-on activities and opportunities to learn together. They worked as a team to solve a puzzle, searched for 25 toothpicks hidden in a haystack and designed their own Indigenous-inspired T-shirts using paint markers. They also put their skills to the test by filling a bucket with water using syringes!
After a busy morning, everyone enjoyed a delicious sausage lunch before being entertained by a fantastic performance from Ganga Giri. The students were invited to get up, dance along and experience the rhythms of his didgeridoo.
It was a wonderful day filled with cultural learning, connection and memorable experiences. Our students had a fantastic time participating in the activities, celebrating culture and connecting with other students from the local community.
Colour Run
This term we are hosting a Monty’s Colour Fun Run for our students and raising funds for equipment and resources for our students. Fundraising for our school is easy! Simply go to www.myprofilepage.com.au and click the register button to create a cybersafe, online profile page. Once you’ve created a parent account and profile page, you can share that around to family and friends to receive online donations. Please note that this is an online fundraiser only and all cash donations must be converted to an online donation before Friday 20th November.
Receive a prize for your fundraising efforts by simply raising $10 online! You can also receive some bonus Monty the Monster incentive prizes! Check out your sponsorship form booklet for more information! This will be coming home with your child this week.
Our Monty’s Colour Fun Run will take place on Wednesday 18th November.
Please note, if the weather is forecast to be cold/wet, we will reschedule the day to Friday 20th November.
Times will be communicated closer to the event.
Our Colour Run event will be held around our school grounds!
- Students will need to bring a white shirt on the day, so that the colours stand out!
- Students have the opportunity to get wet by going under sprinklers! (Optional)
- Each student will also receive a pair of sunglasses and a headband!
- Students are required to wear suitable running shoes.
- Students will be covered in non-toxic, biodegradable colour powder! If students do not want to have powder put on them, that is OK, we will have a coloured sash for them to wear while running.
- Students will receive a Zooper Dooper at the end of their run! If you would like for your child NOT to have a Zooper Dooper, please let your classroom teacher know.
Child Safety
You may have noticed new signs placed at the student toilets. Please be aware that adult use of the student toilets is strictly prohibited.
Emergency Management Plan
Our school plans for a range of hazards, such as bushfire, severe weather, medical emergencies, building fires, intruders, etc. to develop specific response procedures to address these risks.
We also conduct drills regularly, ensuring that our core procedures of on-site and off-site evacuation, sheltering-in-place, and lockdown/lockouts are well-rehearsed and understood by staff and students.
Our school is considered at risk of bushfire or grassfire. We are Category 4 on the Bushfire At-Risk Register/Category List. This means that we will close when the fire danger rating is Extreme in our local government area (LGA), City of Casey. Our school will close on days of Catastrophic fire danger in the Central weather district.
Action your family’s bushfire survival plan if your own triggers are met. We encourage you to follow your family bushfire survival plan and the advice of emergency services.
The Country Fire Authority also has more information for schools at risk of fire: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/schools.
If we enact our emergency management plan, we will notify you by email, Compass notification and/or text message with updates on our actions. Please do not come to the school unless directed to do so, as you may put yourself and others in danger.
If there is anything we need you to do, we will let you know.
In the event of an emergency that impacts telecommunications, we will endeavour to update you by Compass notification or email.
During an emergency, the school will work closely with emergency services to get specific advice to keep our community safe. Additionally, the Department of Education has dedicated emergency management staff to help monitor the situation and provide additional support to schools during emergencies.
If you have any questions about our school’s emergency management plan, please contact us at clyde.ps@education.vic.gov.au. Please be assured our top priority is the safety of our students and school community.
