Acting Principal's Message

TERM 3 SEMESTER 2

Bonjour à tous,

As a Catholic school community, we are called not only to know the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, but to live them in the way we treat one another each day. The dignity of every human person and our commitment to the common good remind us that every member of our community is valued, respected and worthy of care. In our classrooms, playgrounds, and wider school life, our words, choices and actions should reflect compassion, inclusion, justice and respect. By putting these permanent principles into practice, we help create a community where each person can flourish and where we recognise Christ in one another. It is important that we all demonstrate these qualities as role models, teachers for our students and parents as role models for their children. The parent code of conduct is a policy that all of our families must follow in regards to teaching staff, other students, and the wider school community.

Next week we look forward to welcoming Liz back for our last week of term.

An extract from weekly parables for catholic schools.

No Scorekeeping - (Matthew 18: 21 - 35)

At that point Peter had the nerve to ask, “Master, how many times do I forgive a brother or sister who hurts me? Seven?” Jesus replied, “Seven! Hardly. Try seventy times seven.”

This week we hear a question that feels surprisingly current: how many times should we forgive someone who gets it wrong? People misunderstand us. We lose patience. Someone says the wrong thing. A colleague lets us down. A child makes the same mistake again. Sometimes the hardest thing is not knowing that forgiveness matters, but choosing it when we are still frustrated.  Jesus challenges the idea that forgiveness should come with a limit. This does not mean ignoring harm, avoiding accountability or pretending that difficult things did not happen. It means refusing to let resentment have the final word. Our children are watching. They learn from the way we handle conflict, apologise, rebuild trust and offer people another chance. The challenge is real: where might you need to stop keeping score? Who needs your patience, your understanding or a fresh start? And what might change in our lives if forgiveness became stronger than resentment? Sometimes the most powerful lesson we teach is not something we say. It is the grace we choose to give.

Questions for Reflection

  • Where in my work right now am I being challenged to forgive, let go of resentment or offer someone a fresh start?

  • When someone gets it wrong, do my words and actions create space for growth and repair, or do they make it harder for that person to move forward?

  • What would change in our lives if we became better at choosing forgiveness without giving up accountability?

Action Response  A simple challenge for this week: choose one situation where resentment has taken up too much space and make a different choice. Offer patience, start a conversation, apologise, forgive or give someone the chance to begin again. Be the person who breaks the cycle and makes room for grace.

Merci,

Have a restful weekend.

Christy

God of life,

as this school week comes to an end,

we pause, breathe and give thanks for all we have shared, learned and achieved.

Help us to let go of the pressures of the week, make space for rest,

laughter and the people we love,

and return renewed for whatever comes next. May this weekend restore our energy,

refresh our spirit and remind us that

we are more than what we achieve.

Amen
