Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

It was lovely to have many parents at our final Term 3 assembly on Monday. It was fabulous to celebrate the wonderful concert from last week, as our first time together again since the night. It was also a good opportunity to present the VHAP certificates to our Year 5 and 6 students. 

Concert gratitude

Thank you to the small number of families that reached out and expressed their gratitude for the massive effort that went into our concert last week. It is always really lovely to receive these. 

Staff updates

Congratulations to Ms Banks who is expecting her second child early next year. Also, we send out best wishes to Marrisa Beck, one of our OSHC coordinators, who is also going on family leave this week. We look forward to hearing some happy news soon and to welcoming her back at some point next year. It has been a busy, but exciting time this year with several staff pregnancies.

Kitchen Garden- Olives

I am pleased to announce that the first known crop of olives from our fabulous kitchen garden is now ready for sale. They have been lovingly cured over the last couple of months. Stock is limited so please make sure you don’t miss out. All proceeds will go back into the EEPS kitchen garden. Thank you to Ann and Mrs Jackson, and our Sustainability and Biodiversity students, for the effort and care that goes into the garden. 

Public speaking

On Tuesday evening two of our students, Charlie and Jason, proudly represented EEPS at the second Banyule-Nillumbik Public Speaking Interschool competition. This year it was hosted at Banyule Primary. Our students were outstanding and finished in the top four speakers. 

The results were:

• 1st – Monty South Primary School
• Runner-up – Charlie C (EEPS) (by just half a point!)
• Highly Commended – Jason L (EEPS)
• Highly Commended – Diamond Creek Primary School

3 Way Conferences

It was fabulous across the school today as children have been able to share their success across the term at the 3 Way Conferences today. 

Coming Up

This Thursday children are welcome to wear odd socks for ‘Odd Sock Day’, to support mental health and accept individuality. 

Please don’t forget that Term 3 finishes at 2.30pm this Friday.

Next term, we will be enforcing the ‘no hat, no play’ policy, as the weather warms up. Whilst they have been necessary since the 1st September, we have exercised some leniency. Please help your child/ren ensure that they have a school hat ready for the start of the term.

It has been a very busy term. In addition to the normal classroom learning program we have had: National Tree Day, OSHC Educators’ Day, International Friendship Day, Prep 100 days of school, Principals’ Day, our 63rd birthday, Hands on Science, Interschool sport and public speaking, the Boite choir, Chesterfield farm, Book Week activities, whole-school drone photo, ICAS, Prep transition, Kids teaching kids conference, district and divisional athletics and concert.

I hope that you are able to have a break with your children over the September holidays.
