Community
Our School community extends beyond our campus, which is something that we are really proud of at Great Southern Grammar. We see ourselves as members of the larger Albany community and also the Great Southern Region.
Over the past two weeks, members of our School have been out in the region, engaging with families in their ‘backyard’. This week we visited Newdegate to be a presence at the Field Days where we met with a number of families of our current students, met with past students and parents of past students, and also engaged with families who are considering a GSG education for their children in the future. Some of our current parents are our greatest advocates and we really appreciate that support and it is equally important that we honour those families to go out and visit them.
Last week a number of our staff went to Denmark to host a sundowner with our families there at the famous Boston Brewery. It was great to connect with parents in a more casual environment and discuss the needs of their children in more depth than you might get during a brief chat at a school event or in the more formal environment of a meeting on campus.
Also last week, Mr Irving was in Perth to host a sundowner with recent alumni, inviting the graduating classes of 2024 and 2025 to share some refreshments and some stories and to stay connected, so that our past students can continue to be proud of their school and we can continue to be invested in their life beyond school.
Whether it is down at the local sporting grounds on a Saturday morning, or further afield at an organised event, it is an important and joyous aspect of our job as a school to be active members of our wider community. It is our hope that past, present and future students and their families all see GSG as being a meaningful part of their lives beyond the campus.

Can you help?
In this re-imagined event, parents are no longer required to design, donate to, and run a class stall, as the focus is now on friend-raising and community engagement over fundraising. But, perhaps you could:
- volunteer to bake sweet treats for the Tea House
- volunteer to organise the famous Pet Parade
- join a group of general volunteers to manage the fun activities we have planned
- oversee the carriage rides
- donate goods to the Market Stall
P&F Tea House
Call out for baked treats and volunteers. Do you have an events or Hospitality background? We are on the look-out for someone who may like to coordinate the Tea House and oversee the setup and decorations etc. There are notes available from previous years so you wouldn't be starting from scratch.

General Volunteers - can you help?
Volunteer opportunities for "Kingfisher Fair & Open Day Volunteers" are now open. All time slots are for one hour only.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Set up and pack down
- General volunteer (to help where needed)
- Wine Bar (RSA required)
- Supervising an inflatable. You will receive an induction and then your role will be to mark off the timeslot on children's wristbands and then time the session. Couldn't be easier!!
