Sacrament of Eucharist

Please keep the following children in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time this next Sunday May 31, at the 10:00am Mass.

This is a very special moment in their faith journey as they receive Holy Communion for the first time and grow more deeply in their relationship with Christ and the Church community.

As these children take this important step, may they continue to be guided by faith, hope, and love throughout their lives.

All are warmly welcome to join us for this joyful celebration.

School Uniform

I ask all families to please ensure children are wearing the correct school uniform each day.

Children are to wear black school shoes with the academic uniform. Runners are only to be worn with the sports uniform on designated sports days.

Girls wearing the winter tunic should wear navy socks or navy tights. White socks are not part of the winter uniform.

As we head into winter — although with the recent beautiful weather it is hard to believe that we're halfway through May — we also remind families that school beanies are available for purchase from the school office.

I appreciate your support in maintaining our school standards and presentation. Our school image is important, and the way our children wear their uniform reflects pride in themselves and in our school community.

Book Fair Thank You 🙏😊📚✨

A sincere thank you to Ms Claudia for the many extra hours involved in organising our recent Book Fair. Her hard work and dedication ensured the event was a wonderful success.

Thanks to the incredible support of our school community, the Book Fair raised $3000, with half of these funds returning directly to the school to support the purchase of new library resources.

I would also like to thank all families for supporting this venture and helping foster a love of reading among our children. We hope the students are enjoying their new books and continue to develop a lifelong love of reading.

Cross Country News...

On Thursday 14th May, 20 children from St Mary’s represented our school in the Northcote District Cross Country Carnival. The children qualified for this event after participating in the St Mary’s School Cross Country Trials.

Congratulations to the following students who represented our school:

Liam M, Jensen B, Lewi H, Harvey T, Billy B, Athan A, Alessandro T, Lucy D, Florence R, Jemima W, Yel M, Leo L, Estelle B, Izayah B, Matthew B, Phoenix S, Fletcher M, Maxx B, Hugh W and Paige R.

The students in the 9/10 Age group completed 2km, while the rest of the students completed 3km. All children participated extremely well and did their best. Congratulations to Liam M, who finished in 6 th place and will now represent our school at the Darebin Division Cross Country Carnival on June 4th .

Mother's Day Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to our P&F for organising the wonderful Mother’s Day celebrations last week. It was fantastic to see so many mums and special friends gathered in our school yard, celebrating with the children.

The Mother’s Day Stall was also a great success and was enjoyed by all students. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and effort to help make the stall such a fabulous event. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated by our school community.

Bean Boogie Incursion

Yesterday, students from Prep to Year 4 participated in the exciting Bean Boogie Incursion, engaging in a range of hands-on soil science, sustainability, and nature exploration activities.

Throughout the sessions, students investigated the importance of healthy soil and explored the fascinating world of tiny creatures that help support our ecosystems. The interactive activities encouraged curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking while helping students develop a deeper understanding of sustainability and caring for our environment.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to learn through exploration and discovery.

Community Call-out: Grassroots Children's Charity... Big Hug Group

Our St Mary’s community has been invited to get involved in a donation drive supporting the wonderful grassroots children’s charity, Big Group Hug.

This is a cause truly worthy of our support, and a meaningful way for us to come together to assist families in need. Please see the flyer f details, and you can also visit their website for further information and resources, including social media content.

A donation box is available at reception for easy drop-off of items, and all contributions will be delivered at the end of the collection period.
