EMR & SSV State Diving Championships

Last week, Brentwood had three students compete at the EMR Diving Championships, delivering outstanding performances in the morning session.

Bryce Fraser claimed Gold in the EMR U13-14 age group with a score of 96.20. Hayley Browne also secured Gold in the EMR U17-20 age group, achieving an impressive 114.85. Amelia Winbanks added to the success, winning Silver in the EMR U15-16 age group with a score of 124.00.

All three divers qualified for the SSV State Championships in the afternoon, where the competition expanded to include top divers from across the state.

Diving is a sport that demands precision, focus, and composure - every performance is a balance of skill and execution. Whether everything goes perfectly or not, it takes courage and resilience to step up and perform. Our divers demonstrated this brilliantly, applying feedback from the morning’s coaching sessions and giving their best in every dive.

At the State level, the competition was fierce. Hayley placed 5th, Bryce finished 4th, and Amelia achieved a wonderful result, earning the Bronze medal.

EMR Lawn Bowls

The sun was shining and conditions were perfect for a roll down the green as our Senior Lawn Bowls teams competed this week at Ringwood Bowls Club in the EMR competition.

It was a challenging day against strong teams from across the Eastern Metropolitan Region. With five ends per round, results shifted constantly as players carefully reset the jack and adapted their strategies. The level of concentration required throughout the day was impressive.

Both teams represented Brentwood with outstanding sportsmanship, building positive connections and friendships with their competitors along the way.

Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic effort!

Intermediate Boys Netball

On Wednesday 29th April, our Intermediate Boys B Netball Team proudly represented the school at the Waverley Night Netball Association competition and achieved an outstanding result by winning the grand final.

The team played exceptionally well throughout the day, recording strong victories against John Monash, Wheelers Hill and South Oakleigh before finishing the competition as champions. Their speed, teamwork and determination were evident in every match. Our attackers moved with confidence and converted scoring opportunities, the midcourters worked tirelessly to transition the ball through the court, and the defenders applied constant pressure with strong interceptions and rebounds.

Most pleasing of all was the way the boys supported one another, communicated positively and represented the school with pride and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all players involved on a fantastic achievement in winning the grand final.

Our Intermediate Boys A Netball Team delivered an exceptional performance, finishing the day undefeated and earning progression through to the EMR competition.

The boys recorded impressive victories against John Monash Secondary School, Wheelers Hill Secondary College, Wellington Secondary College and South Oakleigh Secondary College. Throughout the tournament, the team displayed outstanding composure, dynamic ball movement and superbly coordinated tactics. Their seamless teamwork, relentless defensive pressure and sharp decision-making across the court proved too strong for all opponents.

Each player made a valuable contribution to the team’s success, showing determination, sportsmanship and pride in representing the school.
