Week 6 term 2

Week 6 is here, which means we are now more than halfway through Term 2. It has been wonderful to see so much learning, friendship, growth and support happening across our school. Every day, our students continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to their learning, and we are incredibly proud of the way they are supporting one another both inside and outside the classroom.
Reports
Student report writing is now well underway, and there is certainly much to celebrate. The progress and achievement we are seeing across the school reflects the persistence, resilience and hard work of our students. It is truly inspiring to witness the determination they bring to their learning each day.
Student Support Group (SSG) meetings
In a couple of weeks, we will be holding our Student Support Group meetings. This is a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to meet with teachers to celebrate student growth, reflect on progress in both learning and social goals, and work together to determine future learning goals. We strongly encourage all families to take part in these meetings, as they play an important role in supporting each student’s ongoing development.
Rainbow Day
We recently enjoyed a very successful Rainbow Day, with a wide range of fun and engaging activities for students to participate in. These included chalk drawing, dress-ups, a dance party, face painting and ribbons, colouring activities and rainbow stickers. A highlight for many was the skipping rope competition run by Mrs Harrison and Mrs Nicholson. It was fantastic to see so many students involved, having fun, and celebrating together. Everyone had an amazing time!
National Reconciliation Week
This week, we are also recognising National Reconciliation Week. This year’s message encourages us to “Make Change” and “Take Action.” Our students and staff have been actively participating in the Sea of Hearts movement in support of reconciliation. Students created and decorated paper heart cut-outs and included messages reflecting what reconciliation means to them. These are proudly displayed in our school office foyer.
Some of the thoughtful messages shared by our students include:
- “respecting the land”
- “saying sorry for the past”
- “working together”
- “truth telling and justice”
- “beauty”
- “everyone belongs”
- “learning from elders”
These reflections highlight the deep understanding and empathy our students are developing, and we are very proud of their contributions.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering. It recognises the invaluable contribution of millions of volunteers across the country and encourages everyone to discover how giving their time and talents can foster connection, purpose, and stronger communities.
Every Wednesday, Naranga students volunteer at the Salvation Army store in Seaford. The wonderful team of volunteers at the store work closely with our students on the shop floor, helping them develop valuable workplace and retail skills in a supportive environment.
To thank the volunteers for their generosity and dedication, we delivered a lovely morning tea to share on Wednesday 20th May during National Volunteer Week. In return, the volunteers presented our students with a thank you card and volunteer badges.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Naranga students have conducted themselves and embraced the opportunity to learn and grow within a retail environment
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
The Red Shoes Rock Foundation is an organisation dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for individuals and families impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). The foundation works to promote understanding, inclusion, support, and education within the community.
We are proud to share that one of our student’s grandparents has been invited to be a part of the foundation, helping to raise awareness and support for the important work they do in advocating for those impacted by FASD.

Reconciliation Week
Reconciliation Week 27th May to 3rd of June encourages Australians to move toward a reconciled nation, with themes often encouraging continued connection between past, present, and future.
In PLC 1 students are considering the question ‘How would you feel if you had to go far away from your parents?’
They created messages of love and friendship for their family and friends.
Next, we are going to learn about a big word that means joining together like best friends: Reconciliation.
It is all about the wider Australian community and First Nations people being kind, listening to each other, and walking together.

Member of School Council
Hi, I am Paul Hamilton, a member of the School Council.
I moved to Frankston from Tasmania in 2014 to marry my wonderful wife. In 2015, our son Simon was born, and in the same year I began working at Peninsula Grammar.
As I was unable to do school drop-offs and pick-ups due to work commitments, I wanted to show Simon that I was interested and involved in both him and the school he attends. Joining School Council felt like the perfect way to do that.
I have loved every moment of being part of the Council, as it has given me the opportunity to contribute to the important decisions and future direction of the school community.
