Message from Acting Principal Gabi

Ministerial School Visit

On Friday, we were joined by the Federal Education Minister, along with the state and territory Education ministers who toured our Molesworth Street Campus. They visited the Kinder, Year 1, Year 2, Art and Science rooms, and the library. We are exceptionally proud of our students and teachers who took the opportunity to show off their literacy skills, by reading aloud to the federal and state Ministers; confidently reading to them, teaching them key words and phrases in Mandarin, and showcasing their Auslan skills. The Federal Education Minister even got comfy on the floor in 1C and participated in their small group lesson on digraphs and trigraphs. They were very impressed with the student (and teacher) knowledge!

Welcome New Staff Members

Seda Seeley, Education Support

I am originally from Istanbul, Turkey. I moved to London in 2005 to improve my English. After seven amazing years and lots of travelling around the world, my husband and I decided to make this amazing city of Melbourne our home. I am working as an Education Support after taking a break from the work force to be a stay-at-home mum to my beautiful 6-year-old daughter. I love cooking, baking healthy snacks, catching up with friends and exploring around Victoria and Australia with my family. I am very excited to be a part of the NMPS community. See you around!

Some of these students have progressed to Divisional level and will compete next week- we wish them all the best.

We are very proud to have had these students represent our school at District Swimming.

Camp for Year 4 & 6

This week Year 4 attended their Anglesea camp. This camp provides students with lots of opportunities to experience a myriad of adventure activities, including canoeing, surfing, and mountain biking. From all reports, students had a very exciting camp experience, and were ready for a big night’s sleep upon their return!

Next week, Year 6 are heading off to their Adventure Camp in the Yarra Valley. They will be participating in adventure activities including abseiling, rock climbing, river sledding,` and will be staying in tents. We are very excited to hear about their new skills and experiences when they return to school.

International Women’s Day

Next Friday is International Women’s Day, and we would like to acknowledge the contribution of the women in our community (and those that support them at home and at school), including but not limited to parents, staff, classroom helpers, P&F committee, and School Councillors. We thank you for the extra effort that goes into making our school what it is.

Additionally, the past 12 months has showcased many female role models for our students, none more so than the Matildas, and we hope this trajectory of women in sport, STEM, leadership, and other public-facing roles continues. We cannot wait to see what our students can achieve.
