Weekly Values Focus - Respect

Week 8: Footscray West students are considerate.
At our school, we show respect by thinking about how our actions affect the people around us. This is called being considerate. Being considerate means noticing what others might need and making choices that help everyone feel comfortable, safe, and included. When we think about others, we help create a calm and caring school where everyone can learn, play, and do their best.
We can show consideration in lots of simple ways each day. We move quietly through our buildings so nearby classes can focus on their learning. We walk on the left to give people space in corridors and doorways, and we wait our turn when sharing equipment or using common areas. If someone is carrying something heavy, looks unsure, or needs help, we can offer a hand. Small actions like these show that we care about the people around us.
Being considerate is important outside of school too. When we are on excursions, travelling on a bus, or visiting places in our community, we remember that our actions affect other people. We are calm and quiet when travelling, we use our manners, speak politely, follow instructions, and thank people who help us. These choices show respect and help others feel valued and appreciated.
This week, look for opportunities to be considerate. Can you move quietly so others can concentrate? Can you notice when someone needs space, help, or encouragement? Can you thank someone for something they have done for you? Small, thoughtful actions like these make a big difference and help make our school a kinder place for everyone.
