Catholic Identity

Last Sunday, we celebrated the Ascension of the Lord. In the Gospel, Jesus sends his disciples out to share his message with others and reminds them, “I am with you always.” This message is one of hope, courage and trust. Even though Jesus was no longer physically beside his disciples, he promised that his presence would continue to guide and strengthen them.

For parents and guardians, this Gospel is a beautiful reminder of the important role you play in guiding your children. Just as Jesus entrusted his disciples with a mission, parents and guardians are entrusted with the daily work of helping children grow in love, kindness, faith and compassion.

This does not always happen through big moments. Often, children learn what it means to live like Jesus through the small, everyday examples they see at home: showing patience, offering forgiveness, helping others, speaking kindly and being present during challenging times.

As a school community, we continue to work in partnership with families to help our students recognise that Jesus is with them in moments of joy, challenge, learning and growth. This week, families might like to reflect on the simple ways they can share Jesus’ message of love at home, at school and in the wider community.
