Year 6: Parliament House & Old Treasury Excursion
Yin Kik Li, Year 6 Teacher
The Year 6 students embarked on an exciting exploration into the world of politics through a hands-on parliamentary role-play experience. Taking on the roles of politicians, students worked collaboratively to propose a bill, debate different perspectives, and participate in a formal vote. Throughout the experience, students developed a deeper understanding of how laws are created within the Westminster system.
As part of the experience, students visited the Old Treasury Building, where they learned about the history of government in Victoria and saw where the Governor signs off on new bills before they become law. This provided students with a valuable real-world connection to their learning about the Westminster system and the democratic process.
It was a valuable and immersive learning experience, hear hear!
