Principal's News
Kate Whitford
It has been a fantastic start to 2026 at RPS. Our positive momentum has continued throughout the first few weeks, and it has been wonderful to see students across all year levels so settled, confident and engaged in their learning. Thanks must go to the staff for their ongoing work and focus on maintaining a calm environment and to our families for your support of the school.
Highlight so far
A whole school highlight of the term so far was our Welcome Morning/Dance expo event held last Friday. Although the staff/parent catch ups were brief, it provided a valuable opportunity to connect, put names to faces and begin strengthening the important partnership between home and school. Thank you to the many families who were able to attend. If you were unable to join us and would like to connect with your child’s teacher, please feel welcome to make contact via XUNO.

It's cool to be Kind
Each week at assembly we award one student the 'Its cool to be kind' award. We are on the look out for students who are looking out for others, including others, encouraging others and helping those around them. We want to see students being 'Upstanders' not by standers when they see an issue. This award comes with a $25 RBN voucher courtesy of funding from Community House.
Schools Clean up Australia Day

Tomorrow, the 27th February, classes will be involved in the Schools ‘Clean up Australia Day Event’. Our Prep class will be cleaning the school grounds and our Grade 1-6 will be heading out into our community. Thank you to all staff involved in these activities, it is great to see our students out and about helping in the town.
Prep first full week of school
After having a mid-week rest for the month of February, next Wednesday, 4th of March will be the first Wednesday our Prep students attend for this year. If your child has any difficulties adjusting to a full week of school, please contact their classroom teacher.
Pupil free day - Term 1

Each year schools are granted 4 pupil free days and a Professional Practice Day by the Department. These dates may change each year depending on the needs of the school and must be approved by School Council. Our first pupil free day for this year is on Tuesday 10th of March. This give families the option to take an extra long weekend if they wish to, as it is straight after the labour day holiday, and aligns with the pupil Free day at Rochester Secondary.
Safe Drop off & Pick up
Our school community is committed to keeping every child safe, confident and ready to learn. One of the busiest and most important times of the day is before and after school, when roads near the school are at their busiest.
To help keep everyone safe, we ask all families to:
By using the crossing and walking children across the road, you are helping us live our school values:
Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe every day.
Bringing Valuable Items to School
Parents, students and staff are reminded that personal property brought to school are not insured for loss or damage. Students are discouraged from bringing anything to school that is particularly valuable or special.
