Brain Olympia Excellence
On Tuesday, Miss Summerell and I had the absolute pleasure of accompanying eight of our many talented students to St Edward’s Primary School in Tamworth for the annual Brain Olympia competition.
Huge congratulations to our team for showing exceptional teamwork, creativity and exemplary behavior throughout the day:
Year 6: Alice, Lillian and Miller
Year 5: Evie, Joe and Kahlani
Year 4: Alex and Poppy
Students tackled general knowledge rounds, mathematical problems, an unscripted drama performance and a speech collaboratively written, then delivered by Alice. It was a fantastic day of friendly competition alongside peers from Tamworth, Quirindi, Barraba and Gunnedah Catholic Schools. Well done to everyone involved!
Celebrating Academic Successes!
Year 1 Hits Major Numeracy Milestone: A huge congratulations to our Year 1 students for achieving a 100% benchmark success rate on the Diocesan Year 1 Number Check, halfway through Term 3!
The Number Check is a short, one-on-one, teacher-led assessment designed to measure each child's foundational number sense and practical numeracy skills. These early skills form the essential groundwork for strong mathematical thinking and problem-solving as our students grow. A special thank you and well done to Miss Downes for creating engaging learning experiences that have built our students' number confidence!
Sensational Results for Year 6 in the Diocesan RE Test: Our Year 6 students completed the Diocesan Religious Education Test last week, and their results were outstanding!
This year, our Year 6 cohort recorded the highest school average in recent years, with an impressive 87% of students scoring 80% or higher. Congratulations to Year 6 on an incredible effort and a big thank you to Miss Murphy and Miss Summerell for their innovative, creative and engaging approach to teaching RE. Keep up the great work!
Save the Date: Term 4 School Musical
Early preparations are underway for our Term 4 School Musical! Musicals are a wonderful opportunity for every child from Kindergarten to Year 6 to shine on stage.
Tentative Performance Date: Thursday evening, November 19 (to be confirmed shortly)
Please pencil this tentative date into your calendars. Participating in a whole-school musical provides multi-dimensional benefits that go far beyond stage performance. Musicals build self confidence,strengthen memory and focus, develop language and literacy skills, as well as fostering collaboration, responsibility and patience. With plenty of fun and laughter ahead, we can't wait to share the magic of The Quest with our fabulous family and friends.
