A message from Amanda Williams
We are excited to share that our school gardens have received a wonderful makeover over the holiday break!
Our Facilities Team has been working hard installing new garden edging and refreshing our garden areas with new plants, soil and mulch. We are very proud of the improvements being made to create an attractive and welcoming environment for our students, staff and community.
At Truganina College, we take great pride in our school and are committed to continually improving our facilities. We want our students to have a wonderful environment in which to learn, play and grow.
Beautiful, well-maintained grounds do more than improve the appearance of our College. They contribute to a positive learning environment and help our students develop a sense of belonging, ownership and pride in their school.
Now we need the support of our whole school community to help us care for and protect our new gardens and plants.
Please remind your children to:

During the term break, Truganina College was very proud to be recognised at the 2026 Centre for Multicultural Youth Excellence Awards, receiving an Anti-Racism Changemaker Award.
We are incredibly honoured to receive this acknowledgement of the work our students and staff have been doing to create a College community that respects diversity, strengthens inclusion and builds a strong sense of belonging.
Every second Friday, I have the privilege of meeting with approximately 30 students from Years 7–9 as part of our Say NO! To Racism Working Party. Together, we have been looking at how we can make our College even more inclusive, ensure student voices are heard and take meaningful action to prevent and respond to racism.
Our students have been instrumental in this work. They have helped make the Department of Education's Preventing and Responding to Racism Policy accessible to students and our community, contributed to cultural parent forums, met with the Attorney General, added racism to our behaviour matrix as a major behaviour, promoted cultural understanding and helped shape initiatives that celebrate the diversity of our College including Culture days each term.
Congratulations to our Say NO! To Racism Working Party. Our students are indeed changemakers and leaders.
At the beginning of every term, we revisit the high expectations we have for our students and their learning. Equally important are our expectations for how we learn, work and interact together.
This term, our team will share more about how we support students to work collaboratively and develop the skills to become active citizens who connect with and contribute positively to their world.
A key part of belonging and connection is treating those around us with kindness and respect. Our College values Ready to Learn, Resilient, Respectful and Responsible reflect the expectations that you as parents and carers, and we as educators, hold for every child at Truganina College.
Throughout the term, we look forward to sharing more about how we explicitly teach, encourage and reinforce positive behaviours across our College.

Victorian Government policy requires students who bring a mobile phone to school to have it switched off and securely stored during school hours. At Truganina P–9 College, mobile phones must be secured (preferably in a Yondr pouch) for the duration of the school day.
To support a safe, focused learning environment with minimal distractions, our College expectations also extend to smart watches and earphones/headphones.
Students who do not comply with the College's expectations may be required to hand their device to a staff member. Devices that are handed to staff will be securely stored and returned to the student or parent/carer at the end of the school day.
Where a student refuses to follow a reasonable staff instruction regarding a device, the matter will be managed in accordance with our Student Engagement and Wellbeing processes and parents/carers may be contacted.
We appreciate the support of families in reinforcing these expectations. Reducing access to personal devices during the school day helps students focus on learning and provides greater opportunities for positive social interaction and connection with their peers.
Our College uniform represents our identity and our motto: Inspiring Excellence in Learning to Believe, Achieve and Succeed.

Our uniform should enable every student to feel included, experience a sense of belonging and demonstrate pride in being part of Truganina College. Wearing the correct uniform each day is therefore an important responsibility for all students.
Parents and carers are asked to support the College by ensuring their child wears the correct school uniform every day.
If your family requires assistance with uniform items, please contact our friendly office team, who will be happy to assist.

With the warmer weather returning, a reminder that Truganina P–9 College is a SunSmart school.
Students are required to wear a broad-brimmed school hat when outdoors during Terms 1 and 4. Close-fitting, wraparound sunglasses that meet Australian Standard 1067 may also be worn during outdoor activities.
We appreciate your support in ensuring students come to school prepared for the warmer weather.
There is much to look forward to during Term 4. As always, our focus remains on providing every student with the opportunity to learn, lead, belong and succeed.
The recognition our students received during the holidays is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when we genuinely listen to young people and give them opportunities to lead positive change.
I look forward to another productive and rewarding term together.
