Celebrating Our School Performance

We are proud to share that Launching Place Primary School has achieved a High performance rating, the highest category, in the recently released School Performance Report.

This is a wonderful achievement for our school community. It reflects the sustained work of our staff, the effort our students bring to their learning and the support of our families. We will celebrate this progress while continuing to strengthen teaching, learning and wellbeing at Launch.

Staff Appreciation Week

In Week Four, we will celebrate Staff Appreciation Week, recognising the difference our staff make in the lives of our students and families.

From helping a child master a new skill to offering reassurance, listening carefully or making someone feel welcome, their everyday actions have a lasting impact. Our teachers, education support staff and office team each contribute to making Launch a place where children feel known, supported and ready to learn.

Throughout the week, some fun, lighthearted activities at school will recognise our staff and show our appreciation for their care and dedication.

Families are warmly invited to contribute through our appreciation card initiative. Please see Compass for information about how you can help your child share a thoughtful thank you. No gifts are required.

Launchers Take on the Physical Maths Challenge

Congratulations to our Year 5/6 students who participated in the Physical Maths Challenge at the Yarra Centre. They approached the challenge with enthusiasm, demonstrated excellent teamwork and represented our school with impeccable behaviour.

It was a wonderful opportunity to combine mathematical thinking with physical activity. We are proud of their strong participation and the team spirit they brought to the day. Go Launchers!

Congratulations to Our Regional Athletes

Congratulations to Henry, Hunter T and Marlee on qualifying for the Region Athletics competition! Reaching this level is a fantastic achievement, and we are proud of their effort and determination. I know Hunter is unfortunately unable to make the comp, but we wish Henry and Marlee the very best as they represent Launch on Thursday. Go Launchers!

Building Confidence in Mathematics

Building confident mathematicians means helping students understand ideas, explain their thinking and become increasingly fluent with essential skills.

Our ongoing work in mathematics includes strengthening Maths Ninjas (our school created Maths flunecy program) and developing consistent teaching practices across classrooms. We want students to build accuracy and confidence, make connections and apply their knowledge when solving unfamiliar problems.

At home, everyday conversations about shopping, cooking, time and games offer valuable opportunities for children to use mathematics and explain how they worked something out.

Shelter in Place Works Continue

Our Shelter in Place works are continuing, and we look forward to the improvements they will bring to our school’s emergency preparedness. Thank you to our students, staff and families for their flexibility while the works are underway. We will keep families informed of any changes that affect access or school routines.

Sharing Some Christmas Kindness

Our school is again supporting the Benwerren Christmas hamper appeal, giving families an opportunity to help others in our wider community.

Donations are welcome from now until the end of November. If your family is able to contribute, please refer to the information shared on Compass for the requested items and collection details.

Thank you for supporting this appeal. Each contribution helps our school community extend kindness beyond our gates.
