Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban      

The 3rd book in the Harry Potter series. 

I have to say this is my second favourite after Goblet of Fire. This book is pretty lore heavy and introduces a lot of new characters like Remus Lupin  (the new dark against the dark arts teacher), Sirius Black (framed murderer and Harry’s godfather) and Crookshanks (Hermione's new cat). 

Here's the plot in a nutshell- Harry is back again with the family that hates him, and he accidently inflates his aunt Marge using magic and she starts floating to the sky like a balloon.  Harry leaves his neighbourhood to go on Broadway (just kidding even though a Harry Potter Broadway musical did happen). Harry gets on the knight bus and goes to Diagon alley where Cornelius Fudge is waiting for him, but Harry doesn’t get a lesson in dementors sucking your soul 101, Harry gets off scot free with only a warning. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Magic are looking for convicted serial killer and follower of ‘he who shall not be named’ Sirius Black to bring him back to Azkaban. Harry stays the night at the 3 Cauldrons Inn and does his homework, he also meets Ron and Hermione at the 3 Cauldrons Inn.  Hermione buys a new cat from a pet shop aka The Magical Menagerie. 

After getting back to Hogwarts a lot of stuff happen so I’ll just list them off -

• Harry gets a new broomstick, a firebolt, but it's confiscated by McGonagall because they both think it's been jinxed by Sirius Black.
• Harry learns about Boggarts, creatures that can shapeshift into the person's worst fear.  
• Harry loses the quidditch game against Hufflepuff but wins against Ravenclaw despite being spooked by some supposed dementors, but the dementors were actually  

Draco, Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle and the Slytherin chaser Marcus Flint in long black robes.  They immediately lose 50 points from Slytherin and get a detention for their troubles.

Hermione has been magically appearing in the classes while they started, it’s because she used a time turner-    a necklace that can travel back in time.  Using this she can be in both classes because she made a timetable sloppily and some of her classes were at the same time as her other classes. 

Sirius Black is revealed as Harry’s godfather and the real murderer Peter Pettigrew is revealed as the true culprit of the murders Sirius is put in jail but with the power of time travel. Harry and Hermione save Sirius’ from his prison and he rides away on Buckbeak the hippogriff who was going to be executed but with more time travel  hijinks Buckbeak is saved and rides away with Sirius.  Also, Sirius is an Animagi- a wizard who can turn him or herself into an animal. Sirius can turn himself into a black dog  

Harry learns how to defeat Dementors with the patronus charm also known as EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!   Harry wins the quidditch cup after beating Slytherin in quidditch. Gryffindor wins the house cup for the third time in a row. 

I rate Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban- 10 cat  biscuits out of ten  dog teeth.
