Principal's Message

What a tremendous two weeks at ENPS! Like every year, the opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our community and take meaningful action as we acknowledged Harmony Day and Cultural Diversity Week, has yet again been something very special to be a part of.

Cultural Diversity Week, Harmony Day and Countries of ENPS

To kick off our celebration of Cultural Diversity Week, the collection of family postcards to create our ENPS Harmony decorations was absolutely fabulous. To then top off the week with our very special ‘Countries of ENPS’, along with our special assembly on Friday it certainly showcased the rich and empowering diversity we have as a school. We are so incredibly proud of our inclusivity and sense of connectedness at school and to have this celebration supported by so many parents and carers, coming together to share their cultural backgrounds with our students was marvellous. We can’t thank all of our parent volunteers enough!!

As a school with forty-two different languages spoken in our homes, it was a wonderful celebration of our richness and extraordinary diversity. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our school community for all their contributions throughout our cultural diversity celebrations and acknowledge the leadership of Sharon McWhinney, Tanya Ward and Morgan King as our Community Engagement and Intercultural Inclusion Team, who passionately coordinate these incredible events. At ENPS everyone really does belong!

School Council Update

Our 2025 School Council has met for the first time last week, welcoming new members to their roles and electing office bearers for the year. We welcome and congratulate our newly established School Council and thank all the members of our community that attended our public Annual Public Meeting last Monday evening. More updates and information can be found on the School Council page of this newsletter.

National Assessment Program - Literacy & Numeracy (NAPLAN)

Friday marked the conclusion of our NAPLAN testing window for 2025. We are so proud of our students in Years Three and Five that participated throughout the past two-week period. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. Thank you to our teachers and families for supporting students to feel prepared, supported and confident. A very special mention to Alice Stephens and Darcy Wynd for the enormous amount of work they have done in preparing and supporting the school throughout this process.

2026 Open Day and Enrolments

Planning for our upcoming Open Day is now well and truly underway. We will be hosting our Open Day on Thursday the 1st of May, with tours being conducted at 9am, 12pm, 2pm and 5pm.

We take the opportunity to remind families that we do have a school enrolment policy and rigorous accountability regarding taking enrolments from within our school boundary. Enrolments for 2026 Foundation students will open on Tuesday the 22nd of April. Look out for further information coming on Compass.

Year 6-7 Transition process are also about to begin in early Term Two. We ask our Year Six families to please check their enrolment details (sent home last week) to ensure all contact and address details are correct on our system prior to the process beginning.

Staffing Update

In a few staffing updates, we are excited to have now finalised the recruitment process for 5EG, as Emma Gallagher prepares to head off on Family Leave in early Term Two. Emma and her husband (our very own) Connor Smith will be welcoming their second child, and baby girl, in May. We are excited to be welcoming Angelina Cetin to the ENPS as the teacher for 5EG for the remainder of 2025. Angelina joins us with extensive experience from Kew Primary School. Angelina will be coming to ENPS on Monday 31st March to meet the class and begin working with the team. As this is a five day classroom position, as a result, Serena Walker will return to her full time role as Mental Health and Wellbeing and Disability Inclusion Leader. We look forward to welcoming Angelina from Term Two!

We also congratulate Eliza Pitman and Jessica Carter as the successful applicants to our Education Support positions. Eliza and Jessica will continue working with us for the remainder of the year, alongside our classroom teachers.

We also have welcomed a new face to the office team. Nadja Edwards has joined the team on a casual basis to support the office at peak times and busy periods.

We know our community will welcome all of our new staff with open arms!

We have also welcomed back Ernie (Gillies St) and Gerrard (McCulloch St) Crossing Guards who have both been absent on extended personal leave.

ENPS Cross Country

Tomorrow our Year Three to Six students will participate in our Cross Country event. We look forward to representing our House Teams and we wish everyone all the best. We love seeing all of our fabulus house team shirts on full display!

Walk-a-thon

We are all super excited for our Walk-a-thon which was launched last week. Our Walk-a-thon will be held on Friday 9th May. Just by fundraising, your child will get a prize and help our school. It is crazy to think that there are only two weeks left of the term! I’ve been really loving my special Thursday lunches with the Student of The Week token recipients. In Week Seven, I had the pleasure of lunching with Harper (4AK) and Reina (6AI) and their selected friends Emily and Matiyar, while last week it was a joy to lunch with Amaya (1MH) and Zayd (2LK) and their friends Lucy and Gabriel. This week it will be Isela (FAM) and Kristhi (3JK) as our special recipients. Congratulations to all of our students who were awarded token for being safe, kind and/or respectful last week!
