Kindergarten

"Kindergarten students have been very busy this term reading "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "Floof". Students participated in 2 big write opportunities to respond to these narratives through talking, writing, drawing and editing their work. The classrooms were decorated to reflect the stories and inspire student writing. Even Miss Marshall and Mrs Cosgrove dressed up! We had lots of fun!

 New 3-6 Syllabus Key Changes

Since 2020 the NSW Curriculum Reform has been shaping a new 3-6 Syllabus. This year, our 3-6 teachers have been implementing the new English and Mathematics Syllabus. The new curriculum gives students more time to focus on key concepts so they can acquire a deeper understanding of essential knowledge and skills. It ensures students develop strong foundations for learning as they prepare for life and work in a complex and fast-changing world.

The new syllabuses emphasise key concepts, identify essential knowledge and skills and include new outcomes to clearly show what is essential. To reflect the outcomes of the new English and Mathematics syllabuses, the language of the Semester 1 reports will change. Please see the tables below which compare the outcomes and language of the old and new syllabuses. If you have a child in Years 3-6, these are the areas you will see on the Semester 1 report. Leaders of Learning will unpack this in more detail during parent teacher conferences next term.

Please also note that not all of the new Mathematics focus areas will appear in Semester 1 reports as some of these are only covered in Semester 2.
