Principal Report

Dear Families,

We have enjoyed another wonderful week of learning here at Dana Street Primary School. Many of our students are getting ready for their learning Authentic Action showcases next week. Next week we have a busy last week of term with School Photos on Tuesday, a final assembly on Thursday along with a Buddies and Mates activity as well. Also on Thursday, as it is our last day of term, we will be dismissing students at 2.30 pm. 

Think Tank

This morning, I had the privilege of taking a group of our student leaders to attend the City of Ballarat Think Tank. This was the second session of the program. Students collaborated with five other local schools to give their views about the services that could be made better for Ballarat kids. Students were asked questions like What makes Ballarat a great place to live for kids?, Do you have any ideas that would make kids in Ballarat feel safe and cared for? and Do you have any other ideas that would help kids join in and feel included? Our students contributed thoughtfully and respectfully to the activity and with other students. They even have ideas to adapt the survey and questions being asked to talk about our school and how we can make it better for our students. 

Japanese Exchange Students 

Today we hosted two Japanese exchange students at our school. The exchange program is part of a program with the City of Ballarat.  They were welcomed into our classrooms to engage in activities like Australian Animal Craft, making Fairy Bread and an Aussie Slang Play. These lucky exchange students have been hosted by two of our families and have been fortunate to visit many of the wonderful places around Ballarat, like the Wildlife Park and Sovereign Hill.  We hope that they enjoyed their time at Dana Street Primary School. 

Good Friday Appeal - Junior School Council

Our Junior School Council is running a fundraising event for the Good Friday Appeal. We are aiming to raise $500. This will be celebrated at school with a Colourful Thursday on Thursday, 2nd April our last day of term.  We can’t wait to see everyone being colourful! 

2027 Foundation Tour

This week, we had our first Tour for our 2027 Foundation Students. Our school leaders did a sensational tour of the school and Miss Kylie and I were able to tell the families about all the wonderful things we do at Dana Street Primary School. It was lovely to meet the families and prospective students. We have our second tour next week and then another in Term 2.
