MPS Trivia Night Shines Bright!

Last Saturday evening, the annual MPS Trivia Night rolled out the red carpet for an unforgettable Hollywood-themed celebration. Guests arrived dressed to impress as movie stars, iconic characters and glamorous celebrities, transforming the hall into a dazzling night at the movies.

The atmosphere was electric, with plenty of laughter, friendly competition and outstanding costumes making for a truly memorable event. It was wonderful to see so many members of our school community come together for an evening of fun and connection.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our dedicated School Council Social and Fundraising Team: David Funston, Kimberley McClure, Steph Crombie and Katrina Beer who along with the many volunteers worked behind the scenes to bring this spectacular event to life. Their time, creativity and commitment ensured the evening was a tremendous success.

Be sure to read the Social and Fundraising Team's article later in this newsletter for further acknowledgements and event highlights.

What Are We Fundraising For?

Funds raised through our community events, including the Trivia Night, will contribute towards the development of a purpose-built STEM learning space at Murrumbeena Primary School. This dedicated environment will be designed to inspire curiosity, exploration and discovery across Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. A modern, fit-for-purpose STEM room will provide students with exciting opportunities to investigate, create, problem-solve and develop the critical thinking and digital technology skills needed for the future.

MID-YEAR REPORTS

Half-yearly reports will be available on the Compass portal from 3:30pm on Wednesday 24 June. These reports outline each student's key achievements across the various learning areas and identify the literacy and numeracy skills that will continue to be a focus for improvement during Semester 2.

Families will notice that written teacher comments are not included in this semester's reports. This is due to approval granted by the Department of Education in response to current industrial action.

Teachers remain committed to supporting every student and look forward to discussing your child's learning and progress at the upcoming parent-teacher interviews early in Term 3.

For our Prep families and any parents who are new to the school, student reports can be accessed via Compass.

COMPASS CONTINUUM

As written comments are not included this semester, the Compass Continuum provides an additional source of information about your child's progress. The Continuum outlines the learning outcomes your child has achieved, as well as those they are currently working towards. It also provides further context regarding your child's progression point against the Victorian Curriculum.

PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Parent-teacher interviews will be held on Monday 20 July and Wednesday 22 July. Booking details will be sent via Compass following the release of Semester Reports.

TAX-DEDUCTIBLE PARENT CONTRIBUTIONS

Each year, families are invited to make voluntary contributions to the school's Building Fund and Library Fund.

These contributions make a significant difference to the school budget and enable us to plan for and undertake important improvements. The School Council Facilities Committee is currently exploring options to increase shade across the school grounds.

Contributions made to both the Building Fund and Library Fund are fully tax deductible, and receipts will be issued for all donations.

If you would like to check the status of your contributions, please contact the school office.

END OF TERM

The final day of each term is dedicated to raising funds for a charitable organisation through a casual clothes day, with students invited to wear casual attire in exchange for a gold coin donation.

This term, funds raised will support State Schools' Relief, an organisation that provides assistance to disadvantaged Victorian students and their families.

Friday 26 June is the final day of Term 2, with students finishing at the earlier time of 2:30pm. A brief end-of-term assembly will commence at 1:45pm.

TheirCare will operate from the earlier finish time. Families requiring after-school supervision are encouraged to contact TheirCare to make a booking. You may also wish to explore TheirCare's holiday program, which offers a terrific range of excursions and activities.

Our MPS staff would like to thank our wonderful school community for your ongoing support and positive contributions throughout the term. We wish all families a safe and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3, commencing on Monday 13 July.
