 Projects & Planning Update

Our playground expansion project is nearing completion, with the Victorian School Building Authority hopeful of a handover before the end of May. The next stage of works will be laying a rubberised surface over the middle part of the area, around the existing climbing structure.

A few other plans ongoing at present include:

  • Replacement of existing gas heaters in the gym with a heating and cooling system. We have had a number of contractors make proposals for this project, which will hopefully be feasible after the exceptional school fair financial outcome last year. This is still very much in the planning stage but looking positive.

  • We've also had visits from a range of professionals looking at ways to improve our current student toilet facilities. The architecture of the buildings involved is quite tricky but we're hopeful of being able to find some solutions to make our student toilets a bit nicer.

  • Steve, Marcelle and a team of keen students and community volunteers have been polishing up their green thumbs with a view to reviving the old veggie garden area above the central playground. It will be exciting to see this area back in action again!

  • With our new shade structures now in place (thanks to the PFA!), we are looking at re-purposing some of the stone blocks left over from the playground project to use as seating around the Gaga Pit, and/or other areas of the school.

  • Our annual tree audit has been completed. No trees have been declared immediately hazardous, with the VSBA now managing the identified potential risk category tree works.

Mums and Special People Coffee morning.

Our annual Mums and Special People Coffee morning has been a great success once again, with a healthy crowd gathering despite the miserable weather of the last couple of days. We love celebrating these special people in the lives of our students, with the smiles on both sides always wonderful to see. It's also always a highlight to give family members a chance to visit classrooms to have a sneak peak into what our students get up to each day!

Thanks to Carolyn, Steve and our teachers for organising and hosting this morning. Of course, big thanks to our intrepid coffee-maker too!
