Mathematics

In Mathematics, we will be embracing the new Mathematics curriculum, which fosters a highly integrated approach, builds connections between Mathematical concepts and promotes higher order problem solving skills. We will be working with numbers up to 120. This will include the following foci:

• Building additive thinking, including counting forwards and backwards by ones from any number
• Making, estimating and counting collections of objects
• Ordering numbers
• Locating numbers on a number line
• Skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s from 0
• Creating and interpreting graphs and discussing questions about the data
• Investigating the measurement of time, including days of the week, months of the year, dates, calendars and timetables
• Introducing measurement of length, using informal units of measurement 
• Recognising and describing 2D shapes and shape patterns
