Last week saw the return of the Flanagan Art Prize to the college after eight years.  We hosted over 100 artworks in a variety of mediums from artists practicing all over Australia in an exhibition here at the college This was an amazing opportunity for our students to not only view and experience contemporary art from emerging and established artists from right across Australia, but also to exhibit alongside them.  Three of our students took up this opportunity:

  • Benny Eckel, whose work “Encounter” was entered into the Young Flanagan Art Prize,
  • Daniel Rivas, who had two works, “Yabby Creek” and “Journey” in the Young Flanagan Clontarf Prize, and
  • Trevor TJ Wortley, who had his work, “Bundi” in the Young Flanagan Clontarf Prize.

TJ Wortley was the 2025 winner of the Clontarf Prize and both Benny and Daniel sold artworks. Congratulations to all three students.  We are so proud of them.

Farewell and good luck, Janine!

We thank Janine Clements for her contributions to the SPC community during the past nine years.
We thank Janine Clements for her contributions to the SPC community during the past nine years.

It is with gratitude and warm wishes that we bid farewell to Janine Clements, who has resigned from her position as Arts Assistant at St Patrick’s College. Janine finished with us on Wednesday, 26 March, closing a remarkable chapter of dedication and service that began in 2016.

Over the past nine years, Janine has been an invaluable member of our community, making significant contributions across our Boarding, Arts, and VCAL programs. Her hard-working attitude, organisational genius, and supportive nature have left a lasting impact on staff and students alike.

Janine’s role within the Arts Faculty, in particular, has been nothing short of essential. She has been the mechanism behind the clockface—keeping us all in check, organised, and ensuring that everything runs seamlessly, just like clockwork. Whether it was creating beautiful displays and exhibitions, sourcing materials, or ensuring materials and supplies were ready in place for classes, Janine has been the silent force driving our success.

Janine's presence will be sorely missed in the Arts Faculty: While we are saddened to see Janine leave, we wholeheartedly support her decision and wish her every success as she embarks on her next chapter at St Aloysius Catholic Primary School in Queenscliff.

On behalf of the entire St Patrick’s College community, we extend our deepest thanks to Janine for her years of service, passion, and care. She leaves behind a space that will always be hers in the heart of our Arts Faculty.

Thank you, Janine, for everything. You will be dearly missed!
