Activities and Events

Welcome Back to Term 2
Students returned to school on Tuesday with a smile on their face and a friend by their side! We have loved hearing all about everyone’s holidays - from exciting trips away to special moments spent at home. It certainly sounds like everyone enjoyed a fun and relaxing break and are ready for an exciting Term 2!
With lots of fun and engaging learning activities planned, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic term. There are also many opportunities for families to join us at school, starting with our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast next week. This term, we’ll also be celebrating Catholic Schools Week, hosting our Kindergarten 2026 Information Morning, Book Fair as well as recognising NAIDOC Week.
We look forward to seeing you at these wonderful events!
Congratulations Mr Rottger
At the end of last term, our staff joined together to congratulate Mr Rottger who was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for 5 Years of Service in the Armidale Diocese.
Kindergarten Excursion
This year marks a special milestone as the Narrabri Lions Auxiliary celebrates 20 wonderful years of providing Kindergarten students across the Shire with their much-loved “Bookworm Bags”. Our Kindergarten students were thrilled to be part of the celebration and attended a memorable event held at Narrabri Public School at the end of last term.
Acclaimed children's author Nat Amoore hosted a dynamic and entertaining presentation that had everyone laughing, joining in, and feeling inspired as she promoted her latest book, Shower Land. With her signature energy and humour, Nat explored the wonders of storytelling and self-expression. It was a fantastic day that sparked joy, creativity and a love for books!
Easter Hat Parade
A huge thank you to our wonderful families and school community who attended our Easter Hat Parade and joined together to celebrate the last day of Term 1.
It was such a joy to see everyone enjoying a lovely picnic lunch on the lawn shared with children, family and friends.
After lunch, Mrs O’Connor hosted our special assembly and was thrilled to present her first Living Well, Learning Well Principal’s Award. This award recognises students who consistently uphold our three rules for living:
* I am SAFE
* I am VALUED, RESPECTED and CARED for
* I am a LEARNER
Congratulations to our Term 1 recipients!
Upbeat music filled the air as each class proudly marched, danced and skipped in their fabulous hat creations during the parade. What a creative and colourful display!
Well done to our lucky chocolate egg door prize winners – Evie Hogan, Lilah Kelly, Darby Cameron, Sophia Ratcliffe, Annabell Dufty, Darcie Wales-Tribe, Lilah Hugo, Phoebe Manton, Adaline O’Connor and Jonathan Lewis.

ANZAC Day March
St Francis Xavier’s staff and students take great pride in marching in the ANZAC Day Parade.
Last week we honoured the bravery, sacrifice and spirit of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women. Our students showed great respect and gratitude, remembering the courage of those who served and continue to serve.
Thank you to everyone who attended.
Professional Learning Days
On Friday 11th April, St Francis Xavier’s staff attended a Professional Development workshop in Gunnedah focused on the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM). This framework supports student well-being and academic achievement by equipping schools with practical strategies to build self-regulation, relationships, and engagement.
Staff from St Xavier’s School, Gunnedah, and Sacred Heart Primary School, Boggabri, also joined the workshop, which explored the ‘Body’ domain of BSEM. Teachers discussed strategies such as brain breaks and positive primers to help students regulate their energy and prepare for learning. It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen classroom practices that support every student’s readiness to thrive.
Staff returned to school on Monday this week attending another Professional Development day. Everyone gathered in the Library to attend a special session hosted by Ms Catherine Jackson from Leopard Tree. They had a great day participating in various team building activities.
