Principal's Report
Term 2, Week 1
Dear St FX Parents and Carers,
ANZAC Day March Participation
Thank you to all the students who represented us at the ANZAC Day services across the shire. We are always proud of our students, but this year demonstrated how wonderful our school truly is with such a huge representation of our school community. Thank you!
Uniforms
As we begin to encounter some cooler weather, students have the option of choosing to wear their winter uniform or summer uniform in the next few weeks. However, please ensure your child is dressed in either full winter or full summer uniform and not a combination of both. Full winter uniform includes wearing a tie at all times. From the commencement of winter (Monday 2 June), all students must be dressed in full winter uniform.
P&F Meeting - Term 2 Week 1
On Wednesday 30th April (Term 2 Week 1), we will be hosting our P and F AGM. P and F committees are an important part of a school's community as they work in conjunction with the school to provide valuable resources that will assist the teaching and learning for the upcoming years. It would be lovely to see as many parents there as possible! Don’t forget..... we have a zoom link sent out via compass which you are most welcome to access.
*What is the commitment as a committee member? 4 meetings per year (1 hour duration)
*External commitments as a committee member? Delegating and liaising with the principal and working parties.
*Positions available in 2025: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and general committee members (fundraising coordinators)
Finally, if we do not get enough parents and/or guardians and overall support the P and F will not form a committee. This in turn means that our students and families will not have community events such as the Mother’s Day/Father’s Day Stalls, Movie Night, Colour Runs or other P & F initiated events. We really do need the support of our families.
Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-elect Peter Murphy
The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference will welcome a new Bishop of Armidale, Dr Peter Murphy. The Reverend Dr Peter Murphy is currently the parish administrator of St Michael’s Cathedral, Wagga Wagga, and Vicar General of the Diocese of Wagga Wagga. He has studied agriculture and worked as a field agronomist in Melbourne before entering the seminary. Over his 32 years of priesthood, he has been a parish priest in three towns: Lockhart, Tumbarumba and Lavington. His ordination will be live streamed at the school in the library on 9th May at 6:30pm and all are welcome to attend.
Pope Francis Death
The death of our Holy Father - Pope Francis occurred on Easter Monday. He was 88 years old. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live with courage and conviction, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalised. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
Enrolments 2026
Our 2026 Kindergarten enrolment processes are well underway and we already have strong interest for our 2026 cohort. Thursday May 15th at 9.30am, we are hosting our information session in the school library. This will include a tour of the Kindergarten classes. If you have a child commencing school next year, or know of someone who does, please ensure you have collected an enrolment pack from the front office.
Mother’s Day BBQ Breakfast
Our annual Mother's Day Breakfast will be held on Friday 9th May from 8.00am under the COLA. All mums, grandmas, aunties and special ladies in our lives are invited to join us for breakfast as a small way of saying thank you for all you do for us. A note has been will been sent home today asking you to RSVP for catering purposes.
(Just a heads up…when our Mother’s Day Breakfast is held, families should avoid parking along the school-side of Bowen Street, as this is a designated and signposted Bus Zone from 8:00 - 9:30am.)
Have a great week!
Mrs Michelle O’Connor
