Reflection 

May the God of our past, the God who has given so many opportunities, be with us. 

May the God of loving kindness who has worked wonders, now half forgotten, be with us.

May the God of our present, the God who gives light to our darkness, 

strength in our weakness, confidence in our doubt and hope in our despair, be with us. 

May the God of our future, the God who can transform us

Into pathfinders of our generation, messengers of the work,

Enlighten our days ahead and be with us on our way.

Spotlighting Year 10 Religion

This term, the curriculum followed by Year 10 leads them to consider and evaluate the Church’s response to emerging threats in human and environmental ecology. This links in well with the efforts we are making as a school community towards sustainability. Students have been given the opportunity to explore Church teaching, in particular Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ in which he highlights “a true ecological approach always becomes a social approach; it must integrate questions of justice in debates on the environment, so as to hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor” (#49). Pope Francis notes in #214 that it is the responsibility of the church – that is, the people of God, all members of the faith community – to raise awareness about ecological issues. And, with Pope Francis, we can ask ourselves: “What kind of world do we want to leave to those who come after us, to children who are now growing up?” (160).

Year 12 Retreat 

Wednesday 13 July – Friday 15 July 2022 (Week 1, Term 3)

Information was sent to all Year 12 parents and students on Friday 20 May regarding the Year 12 Retreat. 

Consent is required for your son to attend – this can be done via Parent Lounge by no later than Wednesday 15 June.

Marist Youth Ministry Year 9 Student Forum 

Year 9 students represented the College at the Marist Youth Ministry Year 9 student forum last week. The day was shared with other Marist school Year 9 students. Amongst other things the students learnt about the three violets as a symbol of our Marist Way of living the Gospel.

Simplicity – to be honest and genuine 

Modesty – to be respectful and gracious

Year 10 Immersion Experience 

Our thanks to the Year 10 families that expressed interest in and supported the Red Earth Immersion experience. Due to insufficient numbers, we are not proceeding with this experience this year. 

Stationery Aid 

Run solely by volunteers, Stationery Aid collect, sort, clean and deliver donated stationery items to students in need. These items can be used or unused items. Started by one of our very own Marist families it is a great way to repurpose stationery items. 

The Stationery Aid collection bin can be found outside the Studies office.

This year Stationery Aid has partnered with Marist 180 this year to deliver an opportunity for disadvantaged young adults to learn a Certificate 1 traineeship in business administration, getting them on track for long term employment opportunities or further education. As part of the program the trainees have planned a trivia night fundraiser for Stationery Aid.  The trainees are not only learning business admin skills but are equally learning skills in workplace etiquette, values and ethics, understanding community giving, environmental and social responsibility. We invite the Marist community to support this fundraising venture.
