Visual Art Teachers: Susie Belcher & Kerri Ahrens

Dear FWPS Family and Friends,Ā

Ā

Just letting you know we have had an awesome šŸ˜Ž Term 1 in the Art Room... A LOT of amazing and colourful art!!!!

Ā

Not sure šŸ¤” if you've seen our Grade 5/6 students staff portraits, but they're fabulous!!! Here are a few… can you pick the staff members??!!

Also, the students in Grades 3/4 have done a brilliant job on their Andy Warhol Campbell soup cans... they're also on display in the hallway. Here's a little look šŸ‘€ if you haven't seen them yet!

Here's what's happening in Term 2

Preps - the students will be studying Leonardo da Vinci and the Mona Lisa. They will be looking at the life and times of Da Vinci and creating their own Mona Lisa using water colour paints.

Ā

After this the students will be continuing with painting but now using acrylic paints (art smocks will be a must!!!).  They will be looking at and painting their own version of The Sunflowers 🌻 by Vincent Van Gogh.

Ā

Grade 1 and 2Ā  - the students are studying the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The students will be discussing her use of colour and pattern then painting their own portrait of Frida Kahlo using her unique style.

Ā

Grade 3 and 4 - the students in Grade 3 and 4 are looking at recycling and creating art from used materials. We have collected our cardboard boxes šŸ“¦ that our art materials came in at the start of the year and making art out of them. Our project is a cardboard portrait. Ā Stay tuned for pictures soon... we've started and they look šŸ‘€ amazing!!!

Ā

Grade 5 and 6 - the students are creating magazine portraits. They will be looking at and discussing the art elements of texture, tone and colour and they will be cutting and tearing the paper. I did mention that this art activity was a marathon not a 100 metre sprint!!! They were keen for the challenge!!!

DonationsĀ

We are still looking for magazines.  A HUGE BIG thank you 😊 from the students, myself and Kerrie for the magazines already delivered!

Ā

Thanks again for all your support,

Ā
