Grade Three Snapshot

Dear Parents,

The good news is we have reached the half way mark of this term!

Whilst most students have transitioned well to the remote learning, we understand for many it is challenging due to the isolation, connectivity issues and the lack of external stimulation. If you see your child lacking motivation with their school work, please encourage them to maybe try one of the following things:

Connect with a school friend via FaceTime, House Party, Zoom or whichever program you are most comfortable with. They can talk through the work tasks or complete them together. Ms Langford-Jones tells a story where her own 10 year old son was having a hard day with his home learning tasks, and when she asked what he would do at school when he became 'stuck', his response was "Copy the person next to me". Seeking help from their classmates or even 'copying a bit of their work' is a strategy many kids use when they are struggling with a task, and often helps clarify what they need to do and give them the confidence to move on independently. Connecting online with one or two classmates may help in a similar way.

Attend the optional Google Meets. Tuesdays at 12:30pm we are holding 'Story Time' with Senora Farfalla. This Wednesday at 12:30pm, Miss Kirk & Ms Langford-Jones will be hosting 'Dance Time' and teaching the students 'The Git Up" dance. These sessions provide the students an opportunity to connect in a more relaxed way.

Attend their allocated small group Google Meets. The small groups allow for more personalised attention than the larger Google Meets and allow every child to contribute and be heard.

Ultimately, the students' wellbeing is a focus for all of us, so please don't hesitate to contact your class teacher if you have concerns about your child.

Please enjoy this latest edition of our newsletter publication which will provide you with an insight of next week's learning focus for each curriculum area.
