Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of MPWPS,

Well here we are already at the end of Term 1, hasn’t it gone fast. I would like to acknowledge that students have returned this term with a positive and settled manner, which has allowed the school to get back into the usual routines quite quickly. With restrictions easing across the state, we will continue to communicate updates to community relating to the operations of the school. This week we will be confirming the school times for Term 2, so look out for that communication in the coming days on Compass.

Safe Drop Offs and Pick Ups

To ensure the safety of students as they leave the school, we ask that parents are mindful of safe drop offs in the morning and safe pickups in the afternoon.

There have been many observations recently of cars double parking, where students run out to the road to be collected. This poses significant risk to students and increases the risk of traffic incidents.

There are also cars parking over the disabled car spaces or over/near the school crossings, again these behaviours pose significant risk to nearby students, toddlers and parents attempting to use the crossings or students who are waiting to be collected from the pickup and drop off zones.

If the pickup/drop off zones are full, we would hope to see that you would either drive around to find a carpark somewhere else or drive around to see if an opening in the green zone opens up. This will ensure traffic doesn’t build up over the crossings or create double parking.

Conclusion of the 3-way conferences

Feedback from staff and some parents at the gate is that the 3-way conferences went well last week, giving parents and teachers a chance to speak about student learning, ask questions and build the important relationship between home and school.

This week concludes our Term 1 Ongoing Reporting, with the final Learning Task and the Progress Reports (behaviour and effort) being published. As always, we hope you are finding these updates timely and provides you a window into how your child is progressing this term.

The ongoing reporting will continue each term and will be compliment the Semester Reports that will come home at the end of Term 2 and Term 4.

Buddies

We have begun establishing our Buddy classes for 2021, these sessions will commence next term. Buddies gives students a chance to build a community with students from other year levels, providing the older students will a chance to support younger students as role models.

Finally, a reminder that we finish on Thursday 1st April at 2:30pm. We will have our end of term assembly at 9:10am via WebEx, Room 1 and 18 are scheduled for sharing.

Have a restful holiday break and we look forward to hopefully seeing you more in Term 2.

Kind regards,

Jarrod Sutton

Principal (Acting)
