Principal's Report

Dear students and families,

I returned from my visit to see my family in Canada on Saturday.  It's been wonderful this week catching up with everyone at school.  I enjoyed warm and sunny weather while in Canada so it has been a bit of an adjustment weather-wise!

Naranga entered into a partnership with the Cyber Safety Project this year to increase the amount of education our students receive on how to be safe in online environments.  In today's modern world, all people need to have the skills to be safe when online and have a good understanding of the types of online behaviours which could be dangerous.  Our children are very vulnerable to online dangers.

Educators from the Cyber Safe Project have worked with our staff on developing curriculum materials for our classes. They have also delivered some sessions to our students at school which were very successful.

The next audience we'd really like to reach is our parents and carers.  Parents and carers can have a very strong influence on keeping children safe online.  Quite often, young people are more savvy users of the internet than their parents.  This can make it difficult to know how to keep your kids safe online.

Our Cyber Safe partners are offering a free parent webinar next Wednesday 26th July at 7:30pm.  Please follow the link below for more information and to register.  If for some reason you can't attend at that time, the webinar will be available to view later.

Click here to register for the Cyber Safe webinar.  I'd really encourage you all to check it out.  As a father of three children myself, I will certainly be tuning in to learn more about keeping my kids safe online.
