Library staff believe that both libraries are more than just a place to find books. We promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students to feel comfortable in. If you walk into either library during lunchtime you will find a vibrant, active atmosphere, with students playing board games, card games, reading, chatting and taking part in makerspace activities.
Both libraries have a space set aside for Makerspace. Here you will find an inviting area that encourages collaboration and communication between students of all levels.
These last couple of weeks in the Bluff Road Library, students have been working with air dry clay and creating some amazing pieces of work. Students at Holloway Road used leaves to create some beautiful air dry clay pieces of art.
Organised Makerspace activities have been planned to take place throughout the year, students need to book in via the Sandringham College Website as numbers are often limited depending on resources. Students will be notified via compass when these events will take place. Some activities for this year include rock painting, notebook decorating, jewellery making, print making, Christmas activities and much more.
Bad girls don't die by Katie Alender (Reviewed by Astrid Kyd)
I enjoyed this book as it had many twists that I didn't expect, and it was very entertaining! My favourite character is definitely the main character Alexis. I like her personality and I think she's cool. I would recommend the book to anyone who likes horror, especially horror that includes dolls and ghosts. It is very entertaining, scary at times, and has an overall great plot
Legendborn by Tracey Deon (Reviewed by Natalie Jones)
OOOOO, this book is unlike any other fantasy book I've ever read. The way the magic is built, the way they bought in the story of King Arthur and the round table, and the way the story was written so that I could never guess what was going to happen and I was genuinely surprised by the plot twists while in other fantasy books I usually guess pretty early. I loved the world building and ahhh the characters are so amazing, though I do wish we get more interactions with a few of them I still love the book. Also the underlying story about ancestors and the relationships of family, dead and alive, is so just AAAA. it makes me so warm and fuzzy inside.
Divergent by Veronica Roth (Reviewed by Gabriela Machuca)
I found the book Divergent a marvellous and creative novel. It was a thrilling book to read. The storyline was brilliant! My favourite character would have to be Christina, she wasn't afraid to tell her her truth, ( probably because she was Candor), she was also a great friend to Trice. I would probably recommend the book to anyone who enjoys reading action books, this book was filled with action and adventure. The ending was also great. Definitely recommend the book, as well as the entire series.
You don't know what war is by Yeva Skalietska (Reviewed by Eva Marinelli)
This book was incredible! It was so sad but also really inspiring. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes personal recounts. It was interesting to read a war story thar was so recent, with modern technology and language and everything.

Harmony Day recognises the diversity of our community and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
To celebrate Harmony Day both libraries set up displays. Bluff Road's display featured books with themes built around inclusiveness. Holloway Road not only celebrated Harmony Day, but it also celebrated Nowruz (Iranian New Year). Saleh no mobarak! A ‘Haft-Seen’ table which Iranian households set up with symbolic items to welcome the arrival of spring was on display in the library.
