Equal Oportunity day 2022 - Girls AFL
We've had so many teams out for interschool sport this month and all students have represented Sandringham College with pride. We love seeing them in the navy and yellow, getting active and enjoying physical activity.
Sandringham College was represented by 30 swimmers at the Kingston Division swimming carnival on 23rd March. Although our team was small, it was mighty! We were awarded two age group champions, both in the 16 year old category. Sienna and Oscar of year 10 swam outstandingly and this saw them go on to the Southern Metropolitan round only four days later!
Sienna swam in five races. She won three and placed second in the other two. Oscar swam in three races and won all three! Both students are now off to the Victorian State Swimming Championship on 28th April. This event is held at MSAC in Albert Park.
Sandringham College has been successful in gaining a $2,500 grant to put towards sporting equipment and/or clinics in term 2. These grants are available every term to schools who are eligible. The focus of term 2's grant is to enhance year 7 and 8 participant in Physical Education.
It is vital to understand that when students have agreed to be a part of an interschool sport team, there is permission required from parents/carers and a payment of $20 made. Students with CSEF are able to use this, but parents/carers need to contact the office to approve this.
A new deadline procedure will take place in term 2. If payment and consent are not made three business days prior to the event, the student will not be allowed to participate in the team. Extensions to the deadline will not be given except for extenuating circumstances. Students train very hard leading up to the event and student numbers have been selected specifically. If a team member does not meet the deadline, it could eventuate in the whole team not being able to compete.
Coaches speak to students and emails are sent to families reminding them of the deadline. We hope that by adhering to these due dates, there is less uncertainty leading up to interschool sport competitions.
