Year 12

 

Year 12 students' have been attending 1:1 interviews in preparation for course selection and pathway decisions for 2024.

 

All domestic students applying for courses at the end of the year will need an Australian Tax File number and all students are required to have a USI (unique student identifier) to create a VTAC application.

Students must apply for a TFN online and have their identity verified through an interview at a participating Australia Post office

What is coming up!

  • Deakin Campus Tours – April School Holidays

There's only one way to choose a uni - you've got to experience it yourself.  Deakin Campus Tours gives students and their families the opportunity to experience their preferred Deakin University campus through a tailored tour, during the April school holidays.  Guests will join a 1-hour tour led by knowledgeable and friendly student ambassadors to get a first-hand look at Deakin’s world-class facilities and have all their study questions answered.  News from Monash University

  • Discover Monash 

Monash University will be hosting several Discover Monash events or activities over the coming weeks.  Unless specified online**, these will be face-to-face events.

 

Participating in one or more of these events will assist students in making informed choices about their study options after Year 12.

The following events will take place in April and May and students are encouraged to register early.  Register at Discover Monash.

  • Monash Science

Science is the ultimate career for those who want to unlock the secrets of the universe… and have a lot of fun in the process.  Scientists dissect and discover, explode and explore, investigate and invent – and their work can genuinely change the world.

 

Students might be interested in having a closer look at the Physics and Astronomy 360 Collaborative-learning Environment (PACE) link and have a 360 degree look at these facilities.

 

Students might also like to participate in a Science Precinct Tour in the July school holidays. Students will be able to take a closer look and see the facilities where they could be studying after Year 12.  Registration is important - Monash Science Precinct Tours 2023 - Multiple Dates.

  • MySCI Science Holiday Program

MYSci is a three-day science program specifically designed for students who are in Year 11 and 12 in 2023.  The program has been significantly revised from the 2022 event, and so if students attended in 2022, they could also attend in 2023.This program schedule will include:

  • hands-on workshops
  • access to our brilliant teaching facilities
  • opportunity to meet some of our Research Scientists
  • exposure to potential career pathways
  • activities with the Young Scientists of Australia
  • social activities

Year 9

Students have completed their Morrisby Career Profiling and recently (Monday 27th – Thursday 30th March), all eligible students had their Morrisby interview with one of the qualified counsellors. The process has been terrific for the students and shortly we will be gaining feedback on the entire process for improvement purposes. 

 

Year 10

The Year 10 students have commenced working on their Career Action Plan (CAP) in preparation for embedded knowledge of skills/academia required for future careers. 

Early in Term 2 we will be taking Year 10 students to the career expo held at Caulfield Racecourse.  Most tertiary intuitions are represented along with the Armed Forces, Police, and apprenticeship groups. Students can talk to representatives and current students, collect information, find out about new courses, and attend seminars. It is a great way to start preparing for subject selection later in the year.

Prior to the Career Expo at Caulfield Racecourse, all Year 10 students will have three half day sessions dedicated to further work on their CAP, subject selection for VCE, information regarding VCE, VET and VM in addition to further investigating possible future courses and institutions.

 

Years 7 and 8

Career Education for Years 7 and 8 will begin in Term 2.
