"Over the past few weeks, the Year 12 VCAL students have been helping out at Fairway Bayside Aged Care making coffee for the residents in their stylish cafe Frida.
Once we had learnt how to use the coffee machine, we had an amazing time making the coffee whilst talking to all the residents and learning about them. They all had very interesting stories for us and were very kind and welcoming."
Overall, the experience was so worth it, all of us Year 12 VCAL student have walked away learning something new and hope to do this again.
Thoughts on the new VCE-VM
Students in the VM program were reflecting on their experience so far. Here are some quotes.
“The VM has been helpful for me this year because I get more hands-on work.”
“I believe the VCE-VM Curriculum is a good pathway for student’s interested in joining the workforce early. Personally, I love the aspect of TAFE on Wednesday’s and Work Placement on Friday’s I feel like I learn more about the real world each week and I enjoy it.”
“I really enjoy VM as I struggled with VCE and now we get a lot of extra help – one on one which has really helped me. Also learning carpentry on Wednesday at TAFE and work placement on Fridays. The subjects I understand more, and I feel more in control.”
“I like less classes to do (number of subjects) so we can focus on work better.”
