Sports News: Senior State Volleyball Finals

On the 19th of May, the Senior Boys Volleyball State Finalists had an early start as they embarked on their journey to Dandenong to compete in the SSV State Finals. The team began with their first game against Melbourne High losing in straight sets 20-10 and 20-12. After this game, the team rallied together and regrouped where they identified what they needed to do to create their own momentum and stick to their game plan. The boys faced a strong Wodonga Secondary College Team, where the boys were able to win with tight sets 17-20 and 20-22. Going into their final pool game, the boys dropped their first set to Ballart High School 20-13. After a time out the boys used encouragement and the belief, they had within each other to win the following two sets 17-20 and 7-15.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With the fantastic effort of the pool games, the team finished second in their pool, which meant they were in the Semi-finals. They faced Maribyrnong College, who were the winners of the other pool. Throughout the game, the boys showed their phenomenal technical and tactical abilities along with their true connection they had as a team. However, they narrowly lost both sets 20-18 and 20- 16. 

 

 

 

 

Through counting back points of the Semi Finals, the Senior boys finished 3rd in the state which is a significant achievement. Throughout all games from divisional, regional, and state finals all students involved represented the College and wider community with great pride.
