Wonderful Water Play!

Did you know that volume and capacity are different?

During our Mathematics lessons Year 1/2 have been exploring the concepts of Volume and Capacity. We estimated the capacity of a variety of containers and then checked to see if our predictions were correct by measuring. Students used their knowledge of everyday containers, e.g. 2L milk cartons to help them make comparisons.

We spent lots of time outside using sand and water to measure how many smaller containers fit into a larger container.

Aboriginal Dreamtime Stories

Year 1/2 students have been exploring a range of Aboriginal Dreamtime stories, focusing particularly on the message in each of the texts. Students have been adding to a booklet where they write the messages each story gives them.

Construction, Construction, Construction!

The Year 1/2 children have been absolutely loving getting creative with different construction materials during Investigations. Students have been using wooden blocks, Lego and engineering toys to construct objects and structures. The children have shown excellent collaboration skills as they have worked together in small groups on construction projects over a number of days. Bravo Year 1/2s!
