Book week is about encouraging students from a young age to love and appreciate reading. It begins with students in the younger years dressing up as their favourite characters from their favourite book and parading in front of the school.
Celebrations, like those that have been held across most primary schools in Australia during the last week are the groundings for their life long love of reading. Once students get to secondary school the dressing up for book week disappears but the celebration of books and stories doesn't stop.
In the libraries at Sandringham College it's a year long celebration as we promote reading and encourage a life long love of reading.
The Sandringham College Library Website is full of ideas for students struggling to find a book to read. Library team members are also full of knowledge regarding the latest releases and YA (Young Adult) fiction.
